Biography : Marc H V Van Regenmortel is currently an Emeritus Research Director at the CNRS (French National Research Center) in the School of Biotechnology of the University of Strasbourg, France. He was for 22 years Director of the Immunochemistry Laboratory at the CNRS Molecular Biology Institute in Strasbourg and previously was a professor at several universities in South Africa and France. He served (1984-1990) as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Virology Division of the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS) and was Secretary General of IUMS from 1990 to 1999. He was also for six years (1996-2002) President of the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses. He supervised the research work of 30 PhD students and has published 395 research and review papers as well as 17 books in the fields of Virology and Immunochemistry. In 2009 he co-edited with Brian Mahy of the CDC in Atlanta, the third edition of the Encyclopedia of Virology in 5 volumes published by Elsevier.
He is currently Editor-in-Chief of ARCHIVES OF VIROLOGY and JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR RECOGNITION, an Executive Editor of ANALYTICAL BIOCHEMISTRY, an Associate Editor of ADVANCES IN VIRUS RESEARCH, FRONTIERS IN IMMUNOTHERAPIES AND VACCINES, JOURNAL OF IMMUNOLOGICAL METHODS, ISRN IMMUNOLOGY, BIONOMINA and EXPERT REVIEWS OF PROTEOMICS

Biography : Fatah Kashanchi, Professor; PhD., Kansas, 1991. Dr. Kashanchi obtained his PhD. from the University of Kansas with Dr. Charles Wood who was instrumental in the development of the Abbot HIV-1 gp120 ELISA assay in 1986 and was trained under supervision of Dr. Susumu Tonegawa (Nobel Laurate for Medicine, 1987) at MIT. Dr. Kashanchi further trained in Dr. John Brady’s lab at NIH/NCI from 1991-1998 and published more than 30 papers during his postdoc and senior investigator tenure. His research interests include both Genomics and Proteomics of HIV-1 and HTLV-1 infected cells. Research in Kashanchi lab has been funded by various internal and external sources including GW-REF, Selective Excellence, Keck, Snyder, Sinsheimer, Cyclacel, DOD, and more than 6 NIH grants, where he is the Principal investigator. In total, he has obtained $8.9 M independent funding since his departure from NIH in 1998. He has 92 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals, 7 book chapters, is an NIH study section member (5 independent study sections), as well as reviewer for 12 different journals and an editor for Retrovirology (2005) and JBC (Dec 2006). Dr. Kashanchi has trained and supported 14 postdocs, 9 Ph.D. students, 19 MS, and 5 Research Assistant Professors since 1999. Finally, he is the co-Director of the Keck Institute of Proteomics and director of the MS program in Genomics, Proteomics and Bioinformatics at the George Washington University Medical School

Biography : Nancy F. Crum-Cianflone MD MPH is an Infectious Diseases Staff at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, California and a Research Physician with the Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Program. She also is an Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland; Voluntary Associate Clinical Professor at the University of San Diego, California; and Adjunct Professor in Public Health and Epidemiology at San Diego State University.
She has a Doctorate of Medicine Degree from the University of Chicago, a Masters Degree in Public Health from San Diego State University, and a Bachelor’s of Art Degree from Wittenberg University.
Dr. Crum-Cianflone serves on the Publications Committee for the Clinical Infectious Disease Journal and the Journal of Infectious Diseases. She is also an editorial Board Member for both Infectious Disease in Clinical Practice and AIDS Patient Care and STDs. She also reviews articles for over 20 journals.
She has published over 100 journal articles in peer-reviewed journals, and continues to be an avid researcher in the field of Infectious Diseases and HIV.

Biography : IvanoMezzaroma was born in Rome, Italy, in 1957. He received the Medicine and Surgery degree (summa cum laude) in 1983 from Sapienza – University of Rome, Italy, and the Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases degrees (summa cum laude) from the same University, in 1988 and 1994, respectively. Since 1990, I. Mezzaroma is with the Department of Clinical Medicine of Sapienza – University of Rome. Presently, he is Assistant Professor at Dpt. of Clinical. He is mainly interested in primary and acquired immune-deficiencies and in treatment of HIV-1 disease. He teaches Internal Medicine, Clinical Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the I School of Medicine (Sapienza – University of Rome). He was Principal investigator/Co-Investigator in several clinical research trials of antiretroviral drugs, vaccines and immunomodulating drugs.
