Biography : Shein-Chung Chow, Ph.D. is currently a Professor at the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, North Carolina. Prior to joining Duke University, he was the Director of TCOG (Taiwan Cooperative Oncology Group) Statistical Center and the Executive Director of National Clinical Trial Network Coordination Center. Prior to that, Dr. Chow also held various positions in the pharmaceutical industry such as Vice President, Biostatistics, Data Management, and Medical Writing at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Cambridge, MA; Executive Director, Statistics and Clinical Programming at Covance, Inc., Director and Department Head at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Plansboro, NJ; Senior Statistician and Research Statistician at Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Division, Warner-Lambert Company, Ann Arbor, MI and Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, Rouses Point, NY. Through these positions, Dr. Chow provided technical supervision and guidance to project teams on statistical issues and presentations before partners, regulatory agencies or scientific bodies, defending the appropriateness of statistical methods used in clinical trial design or data analyses or the validity of reported statistical inferences. Biography : Dr. Alosh has received his Ph.D in Mathematical Demography/ Biostatistics from the School of Hygiene and Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University during the period 1977-1981. He held positions of Assistant and Associate Professor in statistics at the College of Sciences, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Currently, he is an expert Mathematical Statistician and Biostatistics Team Leader at the Office of Biostatistics, Center of Drug Evaluation and Research at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He has successfully completed his Administrative responsibilities as team leader. He has authored over 40 research articles in refereed scientific journals dealing with integer-valued time series, modeling longitudinal data, handling missing data and addressing multiplicity issues in clinical trials. He served as co-editor of the Recent Development in Statistics and its Applications, King Saud University. He is a member of the International Biometric Society and a previous member of the American Statistical Association. He received several awards during his tenure at the FDA.

Biography : Dr. Meijuan Li received her PhD in biostatistics from the University of Minnesota in 2008. There, she worked with Dr. Cavan Reilly on developing statistical methods for genetic association studies and genomic studies. Currently, she is working as a mathematical statistician for the United States Food and Drug Administration in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health. During her career, Dr. Li has authored over 10 peer-reviewed research articles in the areas of statistical genetics, statistical genomics, Bayesian non-parametric survival data analysis, multivariate non-parametric Bayesian data analysis et al. She is a member of American Statistical Association and Eastern North American Region/International Biometric Society.

Research Interest : Her research interests include statistical methods for genetics, genomics, and diagnostic medicine. In particular, Dr. Li focuses on statistical methods for detecting, mapping, and isolating genes involved in complex diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and cancer. Biography : Noelle E. Fearn received her Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri, St. Louis in 2003. She is currently an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Saint Louis University. Her scholarly work has appeared in peer-reviewed outlets such as Crime Delinquency, Criminal Justice Studies: A Critical Journal of Crime, Law, and Society, the International Journal of Comparative Criminology, the International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, the Journal of Criminal Justice, Justice Quarterly, and Social Justice Research. Biography : Issa Zakeri received his PhD in Statistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was an Assistant Professor in the Department of mathematics at the University of Maryland, College Park, a visiting faculty member in the Department of Statistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a visiting scholar in the Department of Statistics at Stanford University, a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, and he is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Drexel University. He likes working on applied and theoretical problems in statistics. He has methodological and applied research interests related to obesity prevention and stochastic modeling and prediction of energy expenditure, and have engaged in obesity prevention research at the biologic, clinical and community levels. Biography : Yi-Ju Li, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Li is also a faculty member at the Center for Human Genetics, Duke University Medical Center. Originally from Taiwan, she received her undergraduate degree in mathematics from Chung Yuang Christian University. She then did her graduate work at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, with Dr. Bruce Weir, a world-renowned statistical geneticist. After receiving her Ph.D., Dr. Li completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Virginia Polytechnic University in Blacksburg, followed by additional training as a Research Associate at The Graduate University for Advance Studies in Hayama, Japan. Dr. Li is a statistical geneticist whose primary interest is statistical method development and its application to human genetic studies of complex diseases. Her research has focused on analyzing genetic and genomic data . Dr. Li and her collaborators have published several family-based association methods for quantitative trait and X-linked genes. Dr. Li also serves as an Associate Director for the Biostatistics Core at the Duke Translational Medicine Institute, where she works with a group of Biostatisticians and provides statistical consultation to clinical investigators at Duke University Medical Center.

Research Interest : statistical method development and its application to human genetic studies of complex diseases. Her research has focused on analyzing genetic and genomic data for identifying susceptibility genes for several human complex diseases including Alzheimer, Parkinson diseases, myopia, and Fuchs Dystroph.

Currently, he is working as an assistant professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Duke University School of Medicine. He has served on cancer protocol committee at Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, thesis committee for Clinical Research Training Program at Duke University Medical Center, and program committee for the Third International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics, and as a reviewer for nine statistics/biomedical journals. Research Interest : Dr. Pang’s primary research interest in recent years has focused on classification methods and genomics. His expertise is on high dimensional data analysis and machine learning, including the design and analysis of biomarker and medical imaging clinical trials, high-throughput data analysis, pathway analysis for genomics data, shrinkage-based discriminate analysis, and software development. At Duke, he collaborates with researchers at the Clinical Anesthesia research division at Duke University School of Medicine, Duke University Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Duke Center for Human Genetics.

Biography : Christiane Guinot has received PhD in Biomathematics from the University Denis Diderot of Paris in 1982, and her Habilitation in computer sciences from the University of Tours in 2003. From 1982 to 1986, she took two Post-doctoral positions in Medical Statistics and Epidemiology at the Gustave-Roussy, Institute in France and at the Showa University School of Medicine in Japan where she acquired a speciality diploma in Cancer Epidemiology. In 1986, she started working for an international pharmaceutical group and headed Biostatistical departments. In 1991, she contributed to the creation of the CERIES, a private research centre on human skin. Since this date, she is in-charge of the Biometrics and Epidemiology department. She is also researcher in the Computer Sciences laboratory of the University Francois Rabelais of Tours since 2002. Up to now, she has authored more than one hundred research articles and book chapters. She was elected President of the Societe Francaise de Statistique French Association of Statisticians, 2005-2008. She was also elected a member of the International Statistical Institute ISI in 2002. In addition, she is serving as an editorial member of the Journal de la Societe Francaise de Statistique. She is also serving as a peer reviewer for several reputed statistics and biomedical journals, such as Statistics in Medicine and British journal of Dermatology.
