Prof Kozo Fujisaki has received his PhD in Osaka Prefectural University, Japan, on 1979.   Currently, he is working as Professor in Kagoshima University, Japan, as well as an Honorary Professor of Mongolian State University, Mongolia. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like  Journal of Veterinary Medical Science.  He has authored over 300 research articles and books. He is a member of  Japanese Society of Veterinary Science, Japanese Society of Parasitology, German and Japan Protozoology Association and so on .  He recieved the Japanese Society of Parasitology "Katsurada" Award in 2010.

Dr. Kumar Venkitanarayanan is a Professor in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Connecticut, USA. Dr. Venkitanarayanan received his bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine and MS degree in Veterinary Public Health from India. In the United States, Dr. Venkitanarayanan obtained his M.S. in Food Science (University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1992) and Ph.D. in Animal Science- Microbiology (University of Connecticut, 1996). He worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Center for Food Safety, University of Georgia from 1996-1999. Dr. Venkitanarayanan, trained in traditional and molecular microbiology, studies the potential of natural molecules for controlling zoonotic and animal pathogens, especially antibiotic resistant bacteria.

The major focus of my research is to investigate the effect of natural, plant-derived molecules for attenuating virulence and reducing antimicrobial resistance in animal and zoonotic human pathogens.

Paul S. Cooke received a Ph.D. in Physiology in 1983 from the University of California-Berkeley. Following an NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship with Jerry Cunha at the University of California-San Francisco, in 1987 he joined the Department of Veterinary Biosciences at the University of Illinois, where he rose to the rank of full professor and served as the Billie A. Field Endowed Chair in Reproductive Biology from 2004-2011. In February, 2011, Dr. Cooke moved to the University of Florida, where he presently serves as the chair of the Department of Physiological Sciences.


 

Dr. Cooke’s research involves the role of hormones and other factors in the differentiation, development, growth and function of male and female reproductive organs. The laboratory has a long interest in factors regulating Sertoli cell development and maturation, and in recent years the biology ofspermatogonial stem cells also has been an important area of interest.

Dr. Wilkie obtained his DVM degree in 1984 from the University of Guelph, Canada. He received both his MS and ophthalmology specialty boards (ACVO) in 1988 from Ohio State University. Jenifer Nadeau received an AAS in Agricultural Science from the State University of New York at Morrisville College in 1993. Dr. Mohd-Zain has more than 28 years of experience in the area of Microbiology. At the institute, she spent 23 years of research in Avian Bacteriology in the areas of avian mycoplasmas, infectious coryza and Ornithobacteriosis. Dr Matthew Robinson received his PhD in Clinical Veterinary Sciences at the University of Bristol, UK, investigating the transmission of tick- and flea-born pathogens. Currently, he is continuing his research work at Bristol, further investigating insect transmission of bacteria. Hany Elsheikha joined The University of Nottingham in 2007 where he holds an academic appointment in The School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. Hany acts as a Lecturer and a module convenor for the Principles of Clinical Veterinary Science (Parasitology). He obtained a first class honours degree in Veterinary Sciences (1993) and MSc (1998) in Veterinary Parasitology from Cairo University, Egypt. He worked full time in dairy farm animal practice 1994 - 1995. Hany earned his PhD from Michigan State University, (Department of Large Animal Clinical Science, 2004), entitled - Molecular Epidemiology and Evolution of Sarcocystis neurona-Agent of equine protozoal myeloencephalitis. In 2005 Hany was awarded the American Society for Microbiology (ASM)/National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID) Postdoctoral Fellowship. He was a Lecturer at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Mansoura University, Egypt from 2005 to 2006. Originally from Nowra in NSW, I managed my family dairy farm from 1985 to 1998. I completed my undergraduate degree in Animal Science in 2003 followed by a PhD in 2008 at the University of Western Australia. The focus of my postgraduate study was the identification of bioactive plants with the potential to manipulate rumen fermentation and their role in preventing lactic acidosis. I had been developing an interest in teaching and in 2005 undertook a teaching internship at the University of Western Australia. I subsequently tutored at the school of indigenous studies before taking up a position as associate lecturer at the school of Animal Biology at the same University. I taught into Applied Microbial Ecology 303, Ecosystems Processes 100, Animal Nutrition 301, Agricultural Microbiology 301, Animal Science 210 and Science and its communication 201. In 2008 I moved to Massey University where I currently lecture into the veterinary and agriculture degrees at the Institute of Veterinary Animal and Biomedical Sciences. I teach mainly in dairy production systems and ruminant nutrition.

Research interests in improving the efficiency of ruminant animal production and consequently greenhouse gas emissions from ruminants.

Dr Celi has received his PhD from the University of Western Australia in 2002.  Currently, he is working as Senior Lecturer in Ruminant Health and Production at the University of Sydney. He has successfully completed his Administrative responsibilities as Sub Dean in Animal Husbandry, secretary of the Australian Society of Animal Production, Faculty representative of the University of Sydney Dairy Research Foundation. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology. He has authored 29 research articles and two book chapters. He received his PhD and Master’s degree from Norwegian School of Veterinary Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM) from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He also attended postgraduate courses in Israel, Norway, Denmark and Germany. He was a guess researcher at department of bacteriology, Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control, Stockholm. Suzanne Berry is an assistant professor in the Department of Comparative Biosciences, in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.  Her lab focuses on stem cell therapy for degenerative neuromuscular conditions, and she is an affiliate with the Neuroscience Program and the Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois.  She completed post-doctoral work in the Department of Cell and Structural Biology at the University of Illinois before joining Comparative Biosciences.  She obtained her Ph.D. degree in 2001 from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in human oncology, studying the effects of loss of DNA repair in colon cancer, but completed her thesis research at Case Western Reserve University after her doctoral laboratory relocated. She also completed post-doctoral research at the Cleveland Clinic and Leiden University Medical Center after receiving her Ph.D.  Prior to her doctoral work at the University of Wisconsin, she earned her B.S. in Cell and Structural Biology at the University of Illinois, conducting research in the Neuroscience laboratory of Dr. William Greenough.  She was born and raised in Catlin, Illinois, approximately 30 miles from the University of Illinois in Champaign, and enjoys pursuing her career in science while remaining close to family and friends.  She and her husband, Dr. David Miller, a faculty member in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois, recently celebrated the birth of their first child, a daughter, in September 2011.

My research interests include 1) utilizing vessel-derived stem cells, known as mesoangioblasts, and mesenchymal stem cells to treat muscle damage in animal models for muscular dystrophy, 2) studying the in vitro differentiation potential of these cells in anticipation of their use to repair damage to other tissue types, and 3) the isolation and characterization of, and development of culture conditions for, mesoangioblasts from human tissues.

Dr. Singh received his B.V.Sc & A.H (DVM) degree from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, India, in 1999.  In 2000, he joined pathobiology department to pursue a masters degree in pathology at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. There he worked on canine senior senile dementia of Alzheimer type. In 2002, he moved to Oklahoma State University to fulfill a residency in anatomic pathology. Dr. Singh completed a PhD in pathology in 2008 in a laboratory focused on bovine respiratory disease complex under the guidance of Dr. Anthony Confer. His doctoral research focused on elucidating the role of an exotoxin leukotoxin (LKT) in the pathogenesis of shipping fever (Mannheimia haemolytica). Dr. Singh completed his board certification in anatomic pathology (ACVP) in 2009.
 

 My interests are neoplastic diseases (canine and feline lymphoma and oral tumors), molecular diagnostic techniques (immunohistochemistry), and bovine respiratory disease complex (virulence factors associated with Mannheimia haemolytica).

I am a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine in Urbana, ILwith appointments in the Department of Pathobiology and the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.  My responsibilities include teaching, research, and clinical service.
   
In 2005, I completed a Ph.D./NIH post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Florida, College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL under the guidance of Dr. Richard Moyer.  The research was designed to determine the functions of specific poxvirus serine proteinase inhibitorsduring infection of  natural host species.

While working as a graduate assistant, I completed a veterinary clinical pathology residency at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2003.

Prior to beginning the residency, I practiced veterinary medicine at small animal hospitals in north-central FL and Russell Animal Hospital in Concord, NH.

 

The primary focus of my laboratory is to use poxviruses and genetically engineered poxvirus recombinants as novel treatments for cancer. I have a strong interest in promoting the study of dogs and cats afflicted with spontaneous tumors as models for human cancer patients.  As a result of my research interests, several canine, feline, and human tumor cell cultures are being maintained and placed into cryostorage in my laboratory.  In addition, I have a continued interest in studying host responses to poxvirus infection.

Dr. Maged El-Ashker is a Lecturer of Internal Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Mansoura University, Egypt. He has obtained his PhD from the Mansoura university, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. He works hardly on Equine colic in his PhD thesis and on sheep Unthriftness in his Master. He worked as guest researcher in Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI), Institute of Bacterial Infection and zoonoses, Federal Research Institute for Animal Health, Jena, Germany in the period between 2/3/2009 till 20/9/2010. Now, he is awarded a post Doctoral scholarship from DAAD to complete his research work on Staphylococcal Mastitis in Cattle in the Friedrich Loeffler Institute, Jena, Germany.

Dr Kuchipudi obtained a bachelors degree in veterinary medicine and a masters degree in veterinary Microbioogy from India. Dr Kuchipudi was awarded PhD from the University of Glasgow, UK for his work ‘Studies on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of innate host susceptibility and resistance to influenza A viruses in chicken and ducks’. Dr Kuchipudi has several years of clinical, teaching and research experience.
 

Research interests of Dr Kuchipudi are centred on the study of virus- host interactions with a special focus on emerging zoonotic viral diseases .One of the current major research interests is in understanding the molecular basis of innate host resistance and susceptibility to avian influenza viruses. Dr. Neelesh Sharma is graduated in Veterinary and post-graduated in Veterinary Medicine from College of Veterinary Science, Anjora, Durg (I.G.K.V.V., Raipur), Chhattisgarh, India. He has more than 8 years experience in teaching, research and extension. Dr. Sharma started his professional career as Research Fellow at Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jammu and later he joined as Assistant Professor in September, 2005, in the same faculty. Dr. Sharma is an “ICAR-International Fellow”. He is recipient of various national and international awards and has worked as collaborating scientist National and International (Angila Ruskin University, Cambridge, England, Jeju National Univeristy, South Korea) research projects. He has published more than 85 publications in journals of National and International repute. He has authored a laboratory practical manual of Veterinary Clinical Medicine-II and four books in veterinary science, and contributed 09 chapters in books. His recent books are on “Production diseases of dairy animals” and another on “Bovine Mastitis” by Neelesh Sharma et al., published by Satish Serial Publication House, Delhi. He is a life member of various scientific societies. He had been a   reviewer and technical editor of more than 6-7journals. He is working as Assistant Professor, Division of Veterinary Clinical Medicine & Jurisprudence, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-J, R.S. Pura-181 102, Jammu (J & K) India.
