Mario Hugo Genero, MD is a Cofounder and Scientific Director of BMG BioPharma. He has received a MD degree from Buenos Aires University, Buenos Aires, Argentina. (1990) Adjunct Professor of Medical Genetics, Austral University (2005-2009). He has served as Council Member of The Human Proteome Project (HUPO) for two period (2003-2009). He is serving as coordinator of the Latin America HUPO. He is participating in the Cardiovascular Initiative at HUPO. He also is serving at the Education and Training Committee of The Human Proteome Project (HUPO) as coordinator of specific educational needs of "Proteomics less advanced Countries".

Mobeen Raja is currently a research scientist in the field of Type-2 diabetes at Alberta Diabetes Institute, Edmonton-Alberta, Canada. He carried out his long-term postdoctoral fellowship in the field of potassium channels awarded by the Federation of European Biochemical Socities (FEBS) at Institute of Biophysics, Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. He received a prestigious Marie-Curie Intra-European Fellowship in 2006. He received his PhD in biophysical chemistry and molecular physiology from Max-Plank-Institute for Molecular Physiology, Dortmund, Germany, in 2002-2005. He is serving as an editorial board member of international journals and reviewer of 5 journals. Qiangwei Xia has received a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington in 2007. Due to his significant impact on the field of quantitative proteomics, Dr. Xia received the 2006 China National Award, the Chinese government’s highest level postgraduate education award. Throughout an impressive nine (9) year research career, Dr. Xia has been working in the field of mass spectrometry-based proteomics. He has made distinct contributions in mass spectrometry instrumentation, bioinformatics, microbial biology research, human oral pathogen research, cancer research, neurodegenerative disease research, biomarker discovery, and stem cell research. Dr. Xia is the author of eighteen (18) peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Xia serves as a reviewer for Analytical Chemistry, Journal of Proteomics, and BioTechniques. In his upcoming position at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Xia will be leading studies performed in the Analytical Biochemistry Group to characterize therapeutic proteins using cutting-edge mass spectrometry techniques.

Kazuyuki Nakamura is serving for the promotion of human proteomics as a HUPO Council member, a member of Education & Training (E&T) Committee, a co-chair of Human Disease Glycomics Proteome Initiative (HGPI), an advisory member of Human Kidney and Urine Proteome Project (HKUPP), an AOHUPO Vice President (E&T Mission), a member of Membrane Proteomics Initiative (MPI), and a Past President of Japan HUPO. He is active in Education and Training of young scientists in Asia not only as a Member of HUPO E&T Committee and a President of Japanese Electrophoresis Society (JES). He organized a Joint Meeting of AOHUPO symposium and JES symposium for the Satellite Meeting of 20th   IUBMB to promote E&T in Japan.

Viola Calabrò is Associate Professor of Genetics at the University of Naples, “Federico II”. Faculty of Biotechonological Sciences. She is a member of the teaching staff for the PhD School of Biotechnology and member of the executive board of the “AGI” (Italian Association of Genetics). She is member of the Competence for “Oncogenomics”, University of Naples, Naples, Italy (2003-2010). She is member of the Academic College for the PhD students in Biotechnological Sciences. Dr. Yi’s research focuses on a better understanding of the basic biology of insulin signaling and the etiology of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes (T2D), as well as their complications.  Dr. Yi and his group are using a combination of clinical, biological, and proteomic approaches to better comprehend insulin signaling and the associated problems that occur with obesity and T2D.  Studying insulin signaling in humans is challenging.  Dr. Yi’s laboratory has developed state-of-the-art techniques that can be used to better define and understand the effect of insulin in key metabolic tissues in humans such as skeletal muscle.  These approaches are useful models for studying cell signaling pathways in general, and especially their regulation by protein phosphorylation and protein-protein interactions.

Yurong Lai, Ph.D. Sr. Principal Scientist, Pfizer Global Research & Development, Groton Laboratories, Pfizer Inc.
Dr. Lai received his M.D from Fujian Medical University in China and his Ph.D. (Toxicology) from Sapporo Medical University in Japan in 1998. From 1998 to 2001, he was a research fellow of Japanese Society for Promotion (JSPS) in Department of Physiopathology, Graduate School of Medicine of Hokkaido University, followed by a position as Research Associate in Department of Pharmaceutics, University of Washington. In 2004, he moved to PDM, PGRD St. Louis and then Groton in 2010, Pfizer Inc. and has been serving as a PDM representative (PI) for preclinical project, postdoc supervisor and discipline leader for drug transporter. Research interests of Dr. Lai and his group include: 1) Discovery and development of drug candidates for the treatment of inflammation and pain. 2) Drug transporter related ADME/Tox, in particular hepatobiliary transporters. Current research projects involve absolute differences of hepatobiliary transporters across species, structure-activity relationship and the evaluation of in vitro/in vivo models to scale up human PK prediction. Dr. Lai is a patent inventor and the author of over 70 research papers/book chapters.
