Biography
Dr. Mraiche received her BSc. in Pharmacology with distinction at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada). After completing her BSc in 2004, Dr. Mraiche pursued a PhD in Medical Sciences at the University of Alberta. She graduated in 2010, receiving numerous national and provincial scholarships, including the Canadian Institute of Health Research Frederick Banting and Charles Best Doctoral Scholarship, Heart and Stroke Foundation Doctoral Scholarship and the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research Doctoral Scholarship. Dr. Mraiche specializes in cardiovascular research and has extensive training in molecular biology, generation, maintenance and characterization of transgenic animals and adenoviruses, all highly specialized biomedical techniques. She is also highly skilled in heart perfusions and performing animal surgery. She has received two teaching certificates, one from the University of Alberta Teaching Services and the second from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. She has also been trained and certified in problem-based learning. Dr. Mraiche has published nine peer-reviewed papers in international peer reviewed journals. She has also presented and published over 25 abstracts at international and national scientific conferences. Dr. Mraiche has received various competitive grants as principal investigator from the Qatar National Research Fund, including the major National Priorities Research Program (NPRP) fund.
