Bioaccumulation is the process which causes an increased chemical concentration in an aquatic organism compared to that in water, due to uptake by all exposure routes including dietary absorption, transport across respiratory surfaces and dermal absorption. Bioaccumulation can thus be viewed as a combination of bioconcentration and food uptake.

Journal of Bioremediation & Biodegradation is also involved in publishing the articles which are related to biotransformation, mineralization, detoxification, recycling and treatment of chemicals or hazardous materials by living microbes and microbial associations or by recombinant organisms. All the articles may be published as review/mini-review/ research article/ case reports/ letter to editors etc. Journal of Bioremediation & Biodegradation addresses the study of microbial communities, genetic biodegradation, biotransformation technologies and also microbial degradation.
