Reproductive toxicity is the condition generated by some chemical substances that interferes with the normal process of reproduction in the human body. It includes the adverse effects in the sexual functioning and fertility of males and females as well as responsible for the developmental toxicity in the off springs. There are many chemical substances that are found to be detected for causing reproductive toxicity. One of the well known groups of substances which are toxic for reproduction is known as Teratogens that causes birth defects. Another group of substance includes endocrine disruptors that cause reproductive toxicity. However, there are many substances that are known to be toxic for reproduction but do not fall into either of these categories like lead compounds. Recently the reproductive toxicity has focused its study on the aspects of occupational and or environmental exposures to the hazardous chemicals; and their effects on the reproduction and developmental biology.
