Bacteriology is the study of bacteria. This subdivision of microbiology involves the identification, classification, and characterization of bacterial species. Bacteria are microscopic organisms which have spread in the environment and are the inhabitants of soil, water as well as human bodies. They are the single celled organisms causing many harmful and lethal diseases both to animals and humans. The study of bacterial structure, shape and physiology is called as bacteriology. Most of the bacteria appear in different shapes such as oval, coccal, spiral etc. A journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting new research. Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals publish articles, reviews, editorials, short communications, letters, and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Journals contain articles that peer reviewed, in an attempt to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. Each such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record.
