Clinical toxicology can be defined as the branch of toxicology dealing with the various effects of toxins, poisonous materials and drugs on human body. It includes the exposure of body to poisonous items as well as the effects due to overdose of medications, and also studies about beneficial doses of toxins and mechanisms by which they help in preventing and treating diseases. The scope of toxicology is so vast and distributed in different areas such as reproductive toxicology, forensic toxicology, genetic toxicology, environmental toxicology, aquatic and food toxicology etc. Toxicology also discusses about the hazardous effects of commonly used drugs for medication such as paracetamol and anti-depressant drugs. Toxicology research is also a multi-disciplinary approach that comprises of techniques from pharmacology, pathology, biochemistry toxicokinetics and lot more.
Journal of clinical toxicology started in the year of 2011 has released more than 180 articles dealing with the problems in the field of toxicology research, such as toxic reactions of specific drugs, drug induced toxicology mechanisms etc. This scholarly open access journal considers articles of high standard selected and reviewed by eminent editorial board members.
