Biography
Dr Peramo is currently Assistant Research Scientist in Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the University of Michigan USA Dr Peramo completed his doctorate in Applied Physics at the University of South Florida working in applications of polymer physics and surface science related to glycosaminoglycan biology applied to cancer He then moved to the University of Michigan to complete postdoctoral work in the area of biointegrative materials and tissue engineering applications in soft tissues He has published papers in a variety of areas ranging from surface science to tissue engineering He has served as a reviewer of peerreviewed journals in the area of integrative materials for medical implants
Research Interest
Dr. Peramo interests relate to the study of biointerfaces, in particular surface modification and development of microdevices for drug delivery, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Currently, he is also involved in nanomedicine applied to vascular biology. In particular, Dr Peramo is currently developing methods for the physical characterization and use of nanoparticles for applications in vascular biology, including the use of cell-penetrating peptide carriers for the internalization of quantum dots and other nanoparticles in cells and circulating microparticles involved in deep vein thrombosis.
