Biography

Dr. Lilitha Chamindrani Mendis-Handagama is a professor at The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Her Veterinary degree is from the University of Sri Lanka, Peradeniya, PhD is from Monah University Australia  and her postdoctoral training is from  The Johns Hopkins University, U.S.A. Dr. Mendis-Handagama is the course coordinator of Microscopic Anatomy I and II, and the chief of the Reproductive Research Group in The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine

Research Interest

Dr. Mendis-Handagama’s main research interest is on testis structure and function focused on many aspects of Leydig cells, the primary source of testosterone in the mammalian male; she focuses on development, aging and toxicity studies. In addition, she is conducting studies on Pet Contraception . Dr. Mendis-Handagama has a US patent on Methods of rejuvenating leydig cells and enhancing testosterone production in a male subject
