Biography

Christine Chan obtained her PhD in Primary Health Care at the medical school of University College London. She lectured at the Nursing Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. Her work mainly focuses on the understanding of psycho-socio-ecological development of ill-health and diseases in various communities such as, the ethnic minority in the UK, community care services in China and Hong Kong. She joined the Hong Kong Institute of Education with the mission to promote health and wellbeing for the school population and she is now working at the Department of Psychological Studies. Currently, she works on childhood obesity of young children, quality of life of parents and caregivers, problem-solving learning and critical thinking of students. She published about 30 peer reviewed articles and a number of book chapters. She obtained a number of internal and external research grants with a total of HK$13 million. She is a manuscript reviewer for a number of internal refereed journals such as, Primary Health Care Research and Development (Cambridge University Press), American Journal of Health Education (American Association for Health Education), Health Education Research (Oxford University Press), and Quality of Life Research (Springer, USA).
