Biography

Dennie V. Jones, Jr., MD, received his medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO., in 1985. After residency training at the Baylor College of Medicine (1988, Houston, TX) and completion of a fellowship in medical oncology from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (1991, Houston, TX), he remained on the faculty of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Department of Gastrointestinal Cancer and Digestive Diseases. After tow two years of drug development in the private sector, he returned to academic medicine with the University of Texas Medical Branch and the University of New Mexico, leading the Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Working Groups in both institutions, as well as the oncology clinical trials offices. He is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Kentucky, and now serves as the Deputy Director of the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center and the Medical Director of the University of Kentucky Markey Affiliate Network oncology outreach program, and continues to focus his academic interests on translational studies and drug development in aerodigestive tract malignancies.
