He was born and raised in a small village in northeast China. His father was a middle school teacher and his mother a housewife. His favorite course during middle school was math and physics. It was not until high school that his interest shifted to biology, as he was amazed by the intricacy of biological systems, in which there are many more unresolved questions than in math or physics. After finishing his high school, he was admitted to the biology department of Tsinghua University for undergraduate study. Four years later (2003),He came to the US for his graduate study. In 2009, he obtained his Ph D degree from the Biophysics program of University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow in University of California, San Francisco. His current research interest is in vitro reconstitution of cell signaling pathways. His goal is to become a leading researcher in biomedical sciences.
Cell signaling pathways using in vitro, Molecular mechanism of Ca2+ triggered exocytosis, Ca2+ sensitivity of the reactions, Antigen binding triggers T cell receptor (TCR) signaling, Signaling molecules onto artificial bilayers.
