Fabio Morato de Oliveira
Associate Professor of Human and Medical Genetics
Federal University of Goias, Brazil

Biography

Professor Fábio Morato de Oliveira has bachelor degree in Biological Sciences, by the University of Brasília (UnB), Brazil, Master in Molecular Pathology (UnB) and Doctorate by the Program of Genetics, University of São Paulo, Brazil. Postdoctoral conducted by the National Institute of Science and Technology in Stem Cell and Cell Therapy / Department of Clinical Medicine (University of São Paulo, Brazil/University of Manitoba, Canada) and joined the Young Researcher FAPESP Program for two years, in collaboration with The Genomic Center for Cancer Research and Diagnosis, University of Manitoba, Canada (2011-2013). He received ten awards at undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral. His main research interests involve chromosomal instability in genetic diseases and stem cells, by using classical and molecular cytogenetic tools (spectral karyotype, SKY, FISH and comparative genomic hybridization CGH), confocal microscopy (LSM) and gene expression through technical real-time PCR and western blot. Currently, he is associate professor at Federal University of Goiás, Brazil, developing new cytogenomics research strategies (characterization by three-dimensional reconstruction of telomeres) applied to genetic syndromes, stem cells (mesenchymal) and tumor cell lines models. Additionally, he is one of the co-cordinators of the training programme applied to Epidemiology and Health Studies.
