Biography

Felix Masiye, PhD, is a health economist based at the University of Zambia. Felix is currently the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zambia and an Affiliate Assistant Professor at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. Dr. Masiye teaches microeconomics, health economics and quantitative methods. His research interests span health program evaluation (malaria control, child immunization, HIV/AIDS), burden of disease measurement, health financing, and health system performance assessment (data envelopment analysis, stochastic frontier methods). He has published several papers in refereed journals on a range of topics. Felix has extensive knowledge of health systems in sub-Saharan Africa and has worked closely with the Ministry of Health, the National Malaria Control Program and other government departments in Zambia and elsewhere. Dr. Masiye earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Cape Town. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard University Initiative for Global Health from 2006 to 2008.
