Biography

Dr. Liming Liang is a graduate from the University of Michigan, where he obtained the Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2009 under the mentorship of Dr. Gonçalo Abecasis. Dr. Liang majored in biostatistics and focused on statistical genetics. During his PhD training, Dr. Liang has been developing computational and statistical tools required for understanding human genetic variation, with a particular focus on complex human disease. Since 2009 after he graduated, Dr. Liang was appointed Assistant Professor of Statistical Genetics at the Department of Epidemiology and the Department of Biostatistics at Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Liang is faculty member of the Program in Molecular and Genetic Epidemiology (PMAGE) and the Program in Quantitative Genomics (PQG) at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Research Interest

Analysis of gene expression and methylation data, particular eQTL/meQTL mapping.
New statistical approaches for the analysis of next-generation sequencing data.
New statistical framework to maximize the informativeness of multiple. Phenotypes and elucidate how genetic and epigenetic variants and their interaction with environmental factors involve in pathogenesis of complex diseases and traits.
Statistical model to integrate genome-wide eQTL/meQTL data with genome-wide association studies.
