Biography
Mahdi Balali-Mood obtained his BSc. Chemistry in 1963 and MD in 1970 from Tehran University and also PhD of clinical toxicology in 1981 from Edinburgh University. He then served as a lecturer in this University until winter 1982, thereafter as a professor of Clinical Toxicology, Mashhad University Medical Sciences, Iran. His other achievements are as follows: Clinical Toxicology Adviser to WHO from 1989 to date. Founding member and the President of Iranian Society of Toxicology (1991-2003) and Asia-Pacific Association of Medical Toxicology (1989-2001). Permanent Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) since 1997. Editor-in-Chief, Scientific Journal of Birjand University of Medical Sciences. Associate Editors and member of the editorial board of some national and International Journals. Member and Vice-Chairman of Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of OPCW (2004-2012). Numerous awards including National Gold Medal in Research. Author of 28 books/monographs/book chapters, 154 original papers and more than 300 short papers and abstracts.
