Biography

Dr. Frank M. Orson received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in 1977. After Fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health, he returned to Baylor to join the faculty in the Department of Medicine with joint appointments in Immunology and Molecular Virology.  Currently, he holds the position of Associate Professor of Medicine, and is Chief of Allergy/Immunology at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston. He has authored more than 50 research articles/books. He is a member of the American Association of Immunologists, the American College of Physicians, and the Southern Society for Clinical Research.

Research Interest

Dr. Orson’s current research involves the optimization of the design and composition of vaccines, as well as the study of adjuvants and other immunoregulatory molecules for vaccines to enhance immune responses to the target antigens. Among these targets, vaccines for drugs involved substance abuse, such as cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin/morphine are being studied in ongoing projects.
