Biography

Dr. Reem Hamdy Abdellatif Mohammed Ibrahim is a graduate and trainee of Kasr Alainy School of Medicine in the year 1995 getting excellent grades with honor.Kasr Alainy School of medicine is one of the biggest teaching institutes in the Middle East. The hospital accommodates more than 2000 beds and during training as house officer she acquired a good experience in internal medicine, surgery as well as the different specialties.She had her Rheumatology residency in the same hospital from 1997-2000 during which she has been seeing between 50-100 patients in the out-patient clinic on daily basis. Then she got her master degree and MD as well as PhD in the same organization (straight shooter) in the year 2004. She has a long term experience in the field of Rheumatology and Rheumatology research. She also shared as speaker as well as chairperson in international rheumatology conferences.During her assignment as lecturer of rheumatology she performed and organized postgraduates as well as undergraduates teaching programs using advanced communication and teaching skills.At 2010 she was promoted to assistant professor till current time and was also recognized by the ACR as an international fellow member of the American College of Rheumatology, as well as member of the Saudi society, the Egyptian and the British Societies of Rheumatology.During the period from 2010 till 2013 she served as the consultant in charge of the rheumatology section in one of the biggest hospitals in KSA Al-hada Armed Forces hospital, during which she was running 4 clinics per week ( managing RA, SLE, vasculitis, seronegative arthropathies, osteoporosis, spine problems, OA and applying the most updated management strategies). During serving in Alhada Hospital she arranged for, successfully initiated and managed a biologic infusion room for the administration of biologic drugs regularly once per week, with establishment of guidelines for the introduction and use of biologics in rheumatology practice in patients at Al-hada hospital based on the 2012-2013 ACR recommendations. The first consultant to establish regular injection clinics for local soft tissue as well as intra-articular injection weekly in the same organization. During this period in KSA, she had the chance to be the first Rheumatologist to organize and co-chair the First Arthritis Day at Alhada, hosting eminent guest speakers. She represented the hospital in a variety of scientific meetings and undergone 3 researches that were published and presented sequentially over the past three years in international Rheumatology conferences and Journals.She had received the advanced rheumatology training course arranged by NYU/USA in 2012 and 2013, as well as the ultrasound in rheumatology courses arranged by NYU school of medicine and the American College of Rheumatology.She had also worked in advanced Rheumatology inpatient and outpatient settings with good experience in almost all types of biologic therapies for autoimmune diseases.She has good managerial experience in the field of medicine, served as the consultant in charge of the Rheumatology department in one of the biggest military hospitals in KSA (Alhada Armed Forces Hospital).She shared in two international book publications in the field of vasculitis the most recent being February 2013.She has actively participated in many of the international rheumatology scientific conferences latest is EULAR 2013, and nature neuroscience conference June 2013.She is the member of the editorial board and scientific advisory board of a number of peer reviewed journals in the field of immunology and rheumatology, a peer reviewer in others.She also has a good experience in medical statistics.
