Biography

Suzanne de la Monte is a physician scientist who directs basic and translational research in the laboratory. I also perform clinical service work in Neuropathology. This activity includes teaching residents and students. Her research efforts are mainly focused on understanding the role of insulin and insulin-like growth factor resistance in relation to neurodegeneration caused by Alzheimer′s disease and chronic alcohol abuse.

Research Interest

Suzanne is interested in the molecular mechanisms of programmed cell death as well as the role of aspartyl (asparaginyl) beta hydroxylase (AAH) in cell motility and invasiveness of tumor cells as well as neuronal cells. In addition, the studies focus on growth factor signaling through IRS 1 and the role of this pathway in oncogenesis.
