Biography

Uma Krishnamurti is a board certified Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist, with greater expertise in breast and gynecologic pathology. She is also a board certified Cytopathologist. She was staff pathologist in West Penn Allegheny Health System and a faculty of Temple University School of Medicine from 2004-2014. She has more than ten years of post-fellowship experience in signing out general surgical pathology in both an academic and large community setting. She has served as the departmental internal consultant for breast and gynecologic pathology at Allegheny General Hospital, which is very active in NSABP, where I worked closely with the breast cancer group. She has also served as Director of Cytology in Allegheny General and West Penn Hospitals. From November 2014, She is faculty at Emory University and cover clinical services at Grady Memorial Hospital and Emory University Hospital. Currently, she is the principal investigator of the breast satellite tissue bank of Emory University

Research Interest

Uma Krishnamurti's research interests are in the field of breast pathology, gynecologic pathology and cytopathology. In breast pathology her research is on breast carcinoma with unamplified chromosome 17 polysomy, HER2 amplification and triple negative phenotype. She is also interested in prognostic factors in serous malignancies of the uterus and ovary. In cytology her interests are in thyroid cytology and cyto-histo correlation in gynecologic cytology.
