Biography

Dr Yi Zhao is an assistant professor in Department of Biomedical Engineering Ohio State University USA He also holds a courtesy appointment in Department of Ophthalmology He earned his PhD from Boston University Boston Massachusetts Currently he directs the Laboratory for Biomedical Microdevices at The Ohio State University and conducts research in development of micro/nano devices for investigating cellular mechanotransduction and development of miniaturized tools for pointofcare diagnostics He is also interested in addressing mechanical material and fabrication challenges in development of biomedical microsystems He has published 60 peerreviewed papers in journals and conference proceedings in the multidisciplinary field of biomedical micro/nanosystems He serves as a reviewer of 10 peerreviewed journals in the areas of biomedical engineering and micro/nanotechnologies and a grant reviewer for federal and private funding agencies Dr Zhao also serves as organizer session chair and program committee at international conferences He is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Biomedical Engineering Society Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and Material Research Society Dr Zhao is the recipient of 2010 NSF CAREER award
