Dr. Daqing Ma, MD, PhD, is a Reader and Head of Anaesthesia Research of the Section of Anaesthetics, Pain Medicine & Intensive Care, Department of Surgery & Cancer, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London, and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

He has more than 130 publications of original articles being published in the English peer reviewed journals (e.g. PNAS, Annals of Neurology, Annals of Surgery, BMJ, JASN, Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesiology and etc.) covering research fields of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology, Neuroscience, Neurology and Nephrology, and two international patents. His main research interests are organoprotection, postoperative cognitive dysfunction, Cancer and Pain. Dr. Ma’s research has been supporting by the grants from MRC, Alzheimer\s Society-Bupa Foundation, BJA/RCoA, AAGBI, Westminster Medical School Research Trust, Action Medical Research and SPARKS, UK and European Society of Anesthesiology, Brussels. He is a regular invited reviewer for peer reviewed journals (> 30) including Annals of Neurology, Plos One, Anesthesiology, BJA, Anaesthesia & Analgesia, Neuroscience, JBFM, Critical Care Medicine, Critical Care, Stroke, Paediatric Research, Journal of Neurochemistry,  Resuscitation and etc. He is a grant reviewer for Swiss National Science Foundation, The Ministry of Science, Education, Sports of the Republic of Croatia and NSFC, China and Wellcome Trust, UK. He has been supervising more than 10 PhD students.

He is a Board Member of British Journal of Anaesthesia and a council member of Anaesthetic Research Society (UK). He is also an expert panel member of French Evaluation Agency for Research and Higher Eduction (AERES), France. He is an editorial member of Journal of Clinical Anesthesiology, Forum Anaesthesia & Monitoring and Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology and is a regular overseas consultant of Chinese Society of Anaesthesiology. Biography :

Dr. Ramsay is chairman of the department of anesthesiology and pain management, a position that he has held since 1989. He is also co-medical director of OR services. He serves as a member of the Baylor University Medical Center Board of Trustees and is also a member of the Medical board. He is director of anesthesia for the liver transplant program and has personally provided anesthesia for over 1000 liver transplant recipients. Dr. Ramsay is Past President of the International Liver Transplantation Society and is currently a member of their Scope Committee. He is on the Editorial Board of Liver Transplantation and has published chapters in 10 text books on various topics related to the liver including Busuttil and Klintmalm’s   “Transplantation of the Liver”. He has published over 58 manuscripts related to liver transplantation in peer reviewed journals.

He is a professor at Texas A & M Health Science Center and he holds a clinical professorship in anesthesiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and also in the department of periodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A & M University.

In addition, Dr. Ramsay is the developer of the Ramsay Sedation Scale, a measurement designed for interpreting the depth of sedation for patients in the critical care unit. This scale has been adopted around the world. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and numerous chapters in text books. He is a member of the Sedation Analgesia Guidelines Task Force of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.  This group came out with new guidelines for the management of Pain, Agitation and Delirium in Adult ICU patients in January 2013.

As President of Baylor Research Institute (BRI), he leads clinically relevant research efforts for Baylor Health Care System (BHCS). Since joining the organization, Dr. Ramsay has developed a successful infrastructure that has increased the number of clinical trials from 250 to more than 900 active trials today. The mission for BRI is expressed in the following statement, “To improve the medical care and well-being of our community – nationally and internationally – through innovative, clinical research that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Baylor Health Care System.” He executed a collaboration agreement with Roche pharma that supports very early research projects and accelerates their completion. This was a pilot project and has now been replicated at many academic centers around the world.

He is currently involved in a number of clinical research projects for which he is the principal investigator. His current research includes the role of nitric oxide in ameliorating the reperfusion injury in liver transplantation. He also is a principal investigator on several NIH-funded clinical trials to improve the outcomes of trauma victims.

Dr Papadakos is Director of the Division of Critical Care Medicine, Professor of Anesthesiology, Surgery and Neurosurgery at the University of Rochester. He is a graduate of the Mt Sinai School of Medicine. He started his training in Surgery at the Roosevelt Hospital in NYC. He completed an Anesthesiology Residency and a fellowship in Surgical Critical at the Mt Sinai Hospital in NYC.   Dr Papadakos was one of the founders of the practice of surgical critical care in the City of Rochester. He is associate Director of the Strong Regional Trauma Center. The main focus of Dr. Lee´s research is understanding the potential therapeutic role of allogeneic bone marrow derived human mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) in acute lung injury. To study this, he has developed three human models: (1) A fairly novel ex vivo perfused human lung injured by endotoxin and E. Coli pneumonia. (2 & 3) Primary cultures of both human alveolar epithelial type II cells and human lung microvascular endothelial cells grown on Transwell plates injured by an inflammatory insult.  Dr. Lee has authored multiple research articles/reviews/chapters on the role of mesenchymal stem cells in acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome.In collaboration with Dr. Michael Matthay, he is in the process of obtaining a FDA IND for a potential Phase II clinical trial of MSC in patients with ALI/ARDS.Dr. Lee´s research is currently funded by the NIH HLBI.   He has been a reviewer for grants for the National Institute of Health, American Heart Association and European Society of Critical Care Medicine.  He is a reviewer for manuscripts for multiple journals including Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, American Journal of Physiology Lung Cell Molecular Physiology and the Proceedings of the American Thoracic Society.

Dr. Lize Xiong is the President of Xijing Hospital, professor the Fourth Military Medical University. Dr.Xiong graduated from The Fourth Military Medical University in 1985 and received ICU training in Peking Union Medical College hospital in Beijing. For further research experiences, he went to Nuffield Department of Anaesthetics, Oxford University, England in 1992 and Yamaguchi University School of Medicine, Japan in 1998 as Visiting Scholar.
Dr.Xiong’s research interest is neuroprotection, he was awarded the First Class of the State Science and Technology Prizes in 2011, and his research supported by 16 Key projects, as Majors Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Natural Science Founds for Distinguished Young Scholar, and Joint Research Fund for Overseas Chinese Young Scholars, etc. Currently, he has got 3 First Class Science &Technology of Shaanxi Province and 9 National Patents. Dr. Moeen Panni is Professor and Head, School of Medical Sciences, University of Bradford, Yorkshire, UK.

Dr. Panni completed the joint medical school and Ph.D. program at the University of Cambridge, England with a doctorate in neuroscience. Following internship/residency work at the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, he completed his anesthesiology residency and obstetric anesthesia training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Following this he was an assistant professor and an attending anesthesiologist at Duke University Medical Center, where he co-­‐ directed research in the Department of Anesthesiology Women’s Division.

After Duke, Dr. Panni moved to the University of Texas, Houston Medical School where he served as director of obstetric anesthesia and associate professor of anesthesiology and completed his certification in business administration from the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Panni was then selected and appointed Chair of Anesthesiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine-­‐ Jacksonville, Chief of anesthesiology at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center and Director of both the UF COM J anesthesiology residency and obstetric anesthesiology fellowship programs and promoted to full professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine. During his tenure there, he oversaw significant improvements in the department’s financial performance, clinical operating room efficiency and academic standing, starting both the Obstetric anesthesiology fellowship and Anesthesiology residency program at the medical center. Dr. Moeen Panni is former Professor and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chief of Perioperative Services, University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Panni has authored a number of publications in the fields of neuroscience and obstetric anesthesia and has won numerous educational awards including the Society of Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology’s (SOAP) Research in Education Award in 2005 and the SOAP 2011 national “Teacher of the Year” award.

He spent three years working in the Washington University School of Medicine and successfully applied for the License for medical practice. He was honored in several occasions with the prize of “Rising star”, “Scholar of  Dawn” and won the second prize of Shanghai Health System top grade honour “Silver Snake” and the title of Excellent Worker of the Year.

        Dr.Wang Yingwei has published academically more than 30 papers in professionally well-recognized international journals and the core journals in China as the first author or corresponding author, among which some papers were published on SCI journals, such as Journal of Neurosicence, Anesthesiology, etc. As the program director, he has applied and won eight national, provincial scientific research grants, including one of the national “863” key programs, four National Natural Science Grant programs and six grants on municipal level.

Dr. Sergey V Pisklakov, MD is an outstanding clinician. He is a Director of Neuroanesthesia Service at the Department of Anesthesiology at Rutgers University – New Jersey Medical School. His clinical activities focused in Neurosurgical Anesthesia. The trajectory of his academic career in research has been quite remarkable. Dr. Pisklakov is the author of 14 peer-reviewed articles, 21 abstracts, 2 reviews, 2 Problem-Based Learning Discussions and numerous presentations. Nine of these articles have been published in the last 3 years. The results of my work have been presented at National and International Conferences. Dr. Pisklakov is an outstanding educator. In addition to clinical supervision and teaching in the operating rooms, he prepares lectures for anesthesiology residents and medical students. Dr. Pisklakov is frequently invited to present lectures to neurosurgical residents, students, and the faculty. His medical student lectures on Neuroanesthesia has earned him two Golden Apple nominations. Dr. Pisklakov contributed to a chapter on the management of anesthesia for intracranial aneurysm clippings and on anesthesia for intracranial mass removal in “Rapid Review: Anesthesiology Oral Boards” by Cambridge Press. Dr. Pisklakov is a Chair of the departmental Clinical Competency Committee. He is a member of the Department’s Resident Selection, Education and Quality Assurance Committees.
