    Biography Extracellular matrices (ECMs) may affect tumor growth, progression and metastasis. He also examine the signaling mechanisms that control NSCLC cell growth, and are exploring novel strategies designed to modulate these signals. Some of this work focuses on the actions of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARg) ligands. These ligands activate PPARg, a ligand-inducible nuclear transcription factor that has been implicated in the pathogenesis of lung carcinoma. Another important area of investigation relates to that of tobacco, which is the most important risk factor for the development of lung carcinoma in the world. Dr. Han is exploring the signaling mechanisms that mediate the effect of nicotine on NSCLC cell growth and apoptosis.
