Dr. Deli Gao is as chair professor working for Department of Petroleum Engineering in China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB),China.He is a principal investigator of the Creative Research Group in critical well engineering for oil & gas issued by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and director of Key Laboratory of Petroleum Engineering issued by the Ministry of Education,China; He is also chairman of Academic Board of the CUPB, a standing director of Chinese Petroleum Society and a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has 30 years’ research and teaching experience in the field of petroleum engineering. He is committed to research on down-hole mechanics and control engineering for oil & gas, and has accomplished more than 30 research projects sponsored by the national scientific and technological funds and the leading petroleum and petrochemical corporations, such as CNPC, CNOOC, SINOPEC and so on. He has already obtained 29 items of invention patents and published 6 monographs and a lot of technical papers in which there are more than 200 papers indexed by SCI or EI. Dr. Dayanand Saini is currently an assistant professor of petroleum engineering at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), where, apart from teaching various core engineering and petroleum engineering electives and developing petroleum engineering program, he is leading a five year-long Notational Science Foundation (NSF) funded multimillion dollar research project for investigating the feasibility of using CO2 injection as drive mechanism to produce formation water for beneficial reuses. He also serves as faculty advisor for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter at the CSUB. Prior to joining CSUB, he worked as Research Manager-Reservoir Engineering at the Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC) of the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND, where he managed compositional reservoir simulation, special core analysis (SCAL), and other reservoir engineering related activities for two multimillion dollars simultaneous CO2 enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and storage demonstration projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)-National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). He also evaluated CO2 EOR potential for depleted oil fields as per client’s needs. He also worked as Reservoir Engineer with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, India, from 2001 to 2006. He has authored and co-authored several journal articles in the area of simultaneous CO2-EOR and geologic CO2 storage, CO2-oil miscibility, rock/fluids interactions, and dynamic reservoir simulation. He has assisted industry clients in making business decision of acquiring depleted oil fields. In Nov 2015, in recognition of significant research conducted in last five years, he was nominated for €200,000 ENI 2016 “Protection of the environment” Award by the ENI, an Italian multinational oil and gas company, headquartered in Rome, Italy.

Professor Sticklens research bridges basic to applied research on addressing the production of industrial biotechnological molecules in cellulosic biomass of feedstock crops for a sustainable biofuel and other biobased economy. She develops and uses bioconfinement methods of genetically engineered feedstock crops to avoid public concerns. She uses safe methods to develop and use genetic modification (GM) technologies that have no or very minimum concerns among the public. Among these, she has developed corn transgenesis system for production GM corn plants which have low-risk or no risk associated with their pollen flow in the field because the gene products are only produced in leaves and stalks of plants (not in the pollens, seeds or roots). Mariam Sticklen has a strong passion for teaching.

Professor Kumta earned his Bachelor of Technology with Honors in metallurgical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India in 1984. This was followed by MS and PhD degrees in materials science and engineering from the University of Arizona in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University following his graduation in 1990 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Full Professor with tenure in 1999. He also held joint faculty appointment in the Biomedical Engineering Department. He joined the University of Pittsburgh in 2007. Professor Kumta is the author and co-author of more than 150 refereed journal publications and has given more than 200 conference presentations with more than 66 invited presentations. He was also the recipient of the Research Initiation Award from the National Science Foundation in 1993 and has been continuously listed in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in American Education since 1999. He was the founding organizer of the first symposium on “Electrochemically Active Materials for Energy Storage and Devices” for the Annual Meeting of the American Ceramic Society held in Indianapolis in 1995, and has been actively involved in its organization and execution to date. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Materials Science and Engineering, B, Solid-State Materials for Advanced Technology, an International Journal by Elsevier Publications.

Ed Lai obtained his Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Florida (U.S.A.) in 1982.  He is a Full Professor at Carleton University (since 1999) who has accumulated 29 years of research experience and knowledge in bio-organic and environmental analytical chemistry.  He is a fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada (since 2004), has published 110 scientific papers, and presented 116 talks/posters at conferences.  His research interests are instrumental analysis of biochemical and environmental samples, using new photochemical, electrochemical, chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques to develop new analytical methods for enhanced sensitivity and selectivity.  He has a wealth of experience in synthesizing highly functional molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for specific recognition of pharmaceuticals, mycotoxins, and endocrine disrupting compounds in water. He is also a member of the Environmental Science Council at Carleton University.

Instrumental analysis of biochemical and environmental samples for public health, using nanosecond laser spectroscopy, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), capillary electrophoresis (CE), and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS).  New photochemical, electrochemical and optical phenomena are developed into analytical methods for enhanced sensitivity and selectivity:  (a) SPR immunosensor for the detection of fumonisin B1 and peanut allergenic proteins in agricultural crops and food extracts;  (b) molecularly imprinted polymers for the selective determination of therapeutic drugs in serum, ochratoxin A in red wine, and estrogenic compounds in wastewater treatment by solid-phase extraction with differential pulsed elution;  (c) laser desorption ionization for the TOFMS analysis of bioorganic molecules on polypyrrole-coated nanospheres;  (d) self-assembled monolayers and electropolymerized thin films for adsorption of toxic metals (Hg2+, Ag+), radioactive nuclides (Sr-90, Y-90), and biomolecules (mycotoxins, peptides, proteins); (e)  bioconjugation of quantum dots with proteins, antibodies and synthetic receptors; and (f)  functionalization of superparamagnetic nanoparticles for removal of E. coli in environmental water.

Thamer Khaz’al Al-Ameri is professor of petroleum geology in the department of geology, college of science, University of Baghdad. He holds a BSc. in geology from the same university in 1969 as well as higher diploma in Engineering Geology/ Sulfur Exploitation from the polish mine authority in Krarov-Poland at 1971 and accordingly worked as geologist for sulfur exploration and exploitation in Mishraq Sulfur Mine, Northern Iraq (1970-1975). He received PhD degree from the University of London, Kings College (1975-1980) in Palynology and Petroleum Geology. He hold certificate in organic geochemistry from Russian Geochemical Institute in Moscow at 1985. His academic work was assistant professor in the University of Salahuddin in Erbil, North Iraq (1980-1991) and as professor of palynology and petroleum geology in the University of Baghdad (1992-till now). He published five text books and 96 scientific articles (in International Journals) with supervising 18 MSc and 20 PhD theses on palynostratigraphy, palynofacies, organic geochemistry, biomarkers and petroleum systems and consultancy work to the Iraqi Oil Exploration Company. He participated in International conferences in UK, USA, Norway, France, Spain, Russia, Australia, Malaysia, Libya, Egypt, Jordon, Syria and Iraq. Dr. Xueyang Feng is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering, Virginia Tech. Dr. Feng got his Ph.D. in 2012 from Department of Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. Before joining Virginia Tech, Dr. Feng had worked as postdoctoral fellow at Energy Biosciences Institute - Illinois at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for two years. Dr. Feng's research is related to investigation of cell metabolisms of model and non-model microorganisms via metabolic flux analysis and RNAseq analysis as well as metabolic engineering of yeast for advanced biofuel production.

Dr. Wei-Qin Zhuang is currently an Assistant Project Scientist in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at the University of California, Berkeley. He has been a postdoctoral researcher in the same department at here UC Berkeley during the past several years. He received both his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Biotechnology and Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His Bachelor’s degree in Bio-Chemical Engineering was received from Tianjin University in China. He has published 17 peer-reviewed papers in the fields such as bioremediation of crude oil contamination, biotransformation and biodegradation of organic solvents in groundwater, microbe-metallic nanoparticle interactions, and consolidated biological-membrane wastewater treatment and reclamation processes. Dr. Zhuang has severed as a reviewer for several international journals in the areas of microbial physiology, microbial metabolic biochemistry/engineering, biological water treatment, and applied bionanotechnology.

Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur is currently working as a Molecular Biologist and Teaching Assistant at Aalborg University Copenhagen, Denmark. Her PhD research was based on ‘Genetic regulation of biosurfactant production by bacterial isolates’. She has broad experience w.r.t. to Environmental, Molecular Microbiology and Industrial Biotechnology. She has been successful in publishing her research work in highly cited and high impact factor peer-reviewed biotechnology journals. She began her research career by working at Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada for some time. Later she served as Assistant Professor for several years at various places in India while teaching graduate and postgraduate students. She also worked as a researcher at University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She has been serving as the reviewer and is member of editorial board of Journal of Petroleum and Environmental Biotechnology since Nov 2012. She is also active as reviewer and is member of editorial board of Frontiers in Environmental Science. Experience of research and teaching in engineering. Fifteen years of service experience in a Petrochemical company and had been posted as a Senior Engineer in the maintenance Department of an Ammonia and Urea Fertilizer plant. There I had to participate also in construction, installation of new equipment, commissioning and test run of the project. Two years working experiences as a maintenance manager of a Hydrogen peroxide manufacturing plant of auto oxidation process. There I have guided construction and erection works and later participated in commissioning and test run of the project. I have worked one and a half year as Head of Engineering and Construction of a Chemical plant producing Sulfuric Acid and Single Super Phosphate. I have good knowledge on computation and instrument handling. I have the academic background with Masters in Mechanical Engineering and PhD on heat transfer, fiber characterization and heat exchanger fouling mitigation. I have 106 technical papers published in National and International Journals and Conference Proceedings. I have worked as part-time consultant with Crown Agents Services Limited, where I work in a consulting team for gas pipelines layout and installation, gas drilling environment management etc. I have also worked for one and a half year as Plant Manager of a Hydrogen Peroxide plant of capacity 60 ton per day. At present I am working as a senior lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
