Zafrulla Khan, D.D.S., M.S., FACD., is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics and American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. He recieved his Dental Degree from Bangalore University, and Masters in Oral Biology from University of Louisville. Completed Residency in Prosthodontics at State University of New York at Buffalo and Fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics/Dental Oncology from University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Currently he is Director of Maxillofacial/Dental Oncology at James Graham Brown Cancer Center. He is Professor of Prosthodontics at the School of Dentistry and a faculty member in Departments of Medicine, Radiation Oncology and Graduate School, University of Louisville. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Boston. His previous appointments included Director of Post graduate Prosthodontics and Chairman, Department of Prosthodontics at the Dental School. He holds Medical Staff appointments at multiple Hospitals in Louisville and is a member of Cancer Committees. Dr. Khan has published many scientific articles in various Dental and Medical Journals. He has received over three million dollars in Grants and Contracts for Research from National Institute of Health, National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, Industry and Universities. Currently he is the Principal Investigator of three Clinical trails sponsored by Pharmaceutical companies in the area of head and neck radiation and oral cancer. He is an Invited Speaker at many Local, National and International Meetings. Christopher J.Salgado received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1995 where he remained for his general surgery training. His plastic surgery training was completed at the University of Rochester in New York and he then served as a Major in the U.S. Army for four years fulfilling his commitment as a plastic surgeon in 2004. Following a microvascular reconstruction fellowship in Taiwan his clinical and research interests are in postoncologic (cancer) reconstruction, genital and perineal functional and aesthetic surgery,aesthetic body contouring, limb salvage, lymphedema and complex trauma reconstruction.He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles, written multiple book chapters and serves on various editorial boards of leading journals.

Dr. Abid Irshad  is working as an Associate Professor in Medical University of South Carolina. Narendra Patel, MD, MPH joined the faculty at the Storm Eye Institute in 2009 as retina faculty and Bruce Pratt Endowed Chair for International Ophthalmology. He completed his Vitreoretinal Surgical Fellowship at the University of Iowa.  He did his Ophthalmology Residency at Northwestern University.  Dr. Patel is a graduate of the University of Illinois, School of Medicine and has a Master’s degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. Along with his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Patel is the Director of the Center for International Ophthalmology for Storm Eye Institute. He oversees a massive expansion of our work in blindness prevention in the developing world. Dr. Patel has vast work experience in the development of health systems in Africa, Central America & South America. He was a consultant with USAID, The World Bank, World Vision & World Relief.  He has extensive experience in health systems evaluation & management. Dr. Patel’s tenure at the Joint Commission spanned several roles ranging from standard interpretation, clinical indicator research, and project management.

Dr. Sompop Bencharit is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dentistry and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). Dr. Bencharit received his DDS in 1994 and Clinical Diploma in Prosthodontics in 1996 from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Bencharit came to UNC in 1996 for his residency training and graduate education. He earned his Certificate and Master Degree in Prosthodontics in 1999, a PhD in Oral Biology in 2003, and a Certificate in Clinical Research in 2008 from UNC. In November 2009, Dr. Bencharit became a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. He is one of a very few clinician-scientists who are both board-certified dental clinicians and PhD scientists.

Dr. Bencharit  has his research interests in structural biology and its applications to human diseases in particular the role of signaling proteins involved in vessel and bone development. In addition, he is also interested in the clinical applications of salivary and tissue proteomics using advanced mass spectrometry. His main laboratory goals include (1) structural and functional studies of cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM), a genetic disorder resulting in vascular defects in the brain causing hemorrhagic stroke; (2) salivary proteomic analysis and biomarker discovery, and (3) bone regeneration and implant dentistry. His current research works are being funded by National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NCTraCS), American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), and Zimmer Dental.

Dr. Abdel-Azim completed his dental training at Cairo University, and obtained his Certificate in Prosthodontics at the University of Rochester. He maintains a practice limited to Implants, Esthetic Dentistry and Prosthodontics at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.

 Dr. Taheri received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of New Mexico USA in 2004 during which time he developed special interest in biological systems and in vivo imaging. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the BRAIN Center at University of New Mexico with special focus on perfusion/diffusion imaging and stroke and managed the 4.7T animal imaging lab. In 2007, he became Research Assistant Professor at Neurology Department, where he was part of the research team working on Stroke, MS and VCI. Dr. Rizwan Aslam is board certified in Otolaryngology/Facial Plastic Surgery Head and Neck surgeon with fellowship training from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction.  His interests include diseases and tumors of the larynx, pharynx, salivary glands, and thyroid.  In addition, he has a special interest in robotics and microvascular free flap reconstruction.

Dr. Quintin Pan completed his PhD in pharmacology at the University of Michigan Medical School in 1999.  He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in translational oncology and subsequently joined the faculty as Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School and the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer to direct a laboratory in translational cancer research.  In 2008, Dr. Pan was recruited to the Ohio State University Medical Center and the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center as Associate Professor and Research Director of the Head and Neck Oncology Program.

The general research focus in the Pan laboratory is to understand the genetic determinants of aggressive head and neck cancer.  My laboratory is interested in identifying "druggable" genes/targets, to delinate the function of these genes in the context of head and neck cancer development and progression, and to design selective inhibitors against these genes as novel anti-cancer therapeutics.
 

Daniel Gould grew up in Sacramento, California attending UCLA, where he received a BS in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics. During this time he did research in the lab of Dr. Joan Valentine, who inspired him to pursue a career in research. He was then accepted in 2006 to the NIH sponsored Medical Scientist Training Program at Baylor College of Medicine, where he worked towards a combination MD/PhD. He completed his PhD in Bioengineering at Rice University in 2011, under the tutelage of Jennifer West and Mary Dickinson. His doctoral thesis work focused on tailoring angiogenesis in vivo. He studied tissue engineering and helped develop novel biomaterials for stem cell transplantation. He is now completing medical school and hopes to integrate training in tissue engineering with a career as a plastic surgeon. Ultimately his goals include the implantation of tissue engineered constructs in humans to alleviate human disease.

Dr. Howard C.Tenenbaum  is a professor of Periodontology Faculty of Dentistry at University of Toronto. He received his DDS degree from University of Toronto in 1978. He received Ph.D. Oral Biology University of Toronto 1982. F.R.C.D.(C) Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists (Canada) by written and Oral 1992 FICD  Fellow of the International College of Dentists (Honourary) FADI  Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International (Honourary).Currently he is carrying out academic and research duties in addition to clinical practice at the University of Toronto. Dr. Leslie Patricia Laing graduated from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario with her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Toronto with her B.Sc., B.Ed., D.D.S., and M.Sc. (Prosthodontics). She is an Assistant Professor in the Discipline of Prosthodontics at the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Leslie Patricia Laing’s primary clinical interests are with Sjögren’s Syndrome and other auto-immune disorders, the effect of oral neuropathies and quality of life, the clinical effectiveness of various retentive elements used in implant-supported complete overdentures and patients perceptions of the various types, and the effect of grafted sites on implant survival. Dr. Muhanad Hatamleh is a maxillofacial prosthetist thoroughly engaged in the field of maxillofacial prosthetics in both, prostheses construction and research. He has been taught and trained in premier UK institutions and holding professional clinical (UK dip MaxFac), Research (PhD, MPhil) and health managerial (MSc Health Mgmt) degrees. He is based at Queens Medical Centre/UK and engaged in treating patients with prostheses including extra-oral, intra-oral, body and limb prostheses. He is an active researcher in maxillofacial materials properties and bonding, maxillofacial prostheses design and construction. He also tutors undergraduate and postgraduate students at School of Dentistry, University of Manchester, UK. Dr.Kerstin Rolfe started her career as a nurse moving into medical research by running a number of clinical research projects. During this time she undertook a part time degree in Biological Sciences through the University of London and moved from the bedside into the laboratory. Dr.Rolfe was awarded a Scholarship through the University of London to undertake a PhD at The Royal Free Hospital, which she was awarded in 2002.In 2009 she was awarded a LLM In Medical Law and Ethics from De Montfort University. Dr.Rolfe started her post-doctoral career at the RAFT Institute. Dr.Rolfe is now one of the senior research members in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Royal Free Hospital, London. Prof. Dr. Karsten Knobloch, FACS received his medical degree at Georg-August University, Goettingen, Germany. Prof. Knobloch,FACS holds board certifications for general surgery and plastic and aesthetic surgery. Dr. Oliver Kloeters received his medical degree at the University of Heidelberg/Germany in 2001 where he also started his surgical career at the Department of General, Visceral and Trauma Surgery. Subsequently, he completed a two year research fellowship at Northwestern University, Chicago/USA, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery where he focused on adenoviral gene transfer and employment of adiogenous tissue derived stem cells in the setting of acute and chronic wound healing in vivo as well as in vitro. He then completed his plastic surgery training at the Burn & Trauma Center Ludwigshafen, University of Heidelberg/Germany and continued his research interest in the field of tissue engineering/ de-novo bone synthesis using combinations of mircosurgical techniques and adipogenous stem cells. He has authored a best-selling surgical textbook, a significant amount of peer-reviewed publications as well as book chapters and serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for many renowned scientific journals. His main field of clinical expertise is reconstructive and hand surgery, burn injury as well as aesthetic surgery.

Dr. Kloeters has spent most of his research efforts in the field of wound healing with specific attention to genetic modification of key genes and intra-cellular pathways, such as the TGF-beta and TNF-alpha pathway in order to positively enhance wound healing. Moreover, he currently works in the field of tissue engineering with the aim to develop off-shelf transplants to reconstruct avital/avascular bone tissue using microsurgical techniques along with adipogenous stem cells. In addition, he conducts a multitude of clinical studies in the field of post burn scar tissue maturation.

Thomas Namdar, MD studied human medicine at the medical faculities of the RWTH-Aachen University, Germany and the UAB University, Spain. During his residency he worked for several years in General, Visceral and Paediatric Surgery and in Plastic Surgery, Burn and Hand Surgery. He spends a lot of engangement in medical research and published as author or co‐author more than 30 peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals.He presented more than 40 papers at national and international scientific meetings. Joern Kuhbier studied medicine in Medical School Hannover and Friedrich-Alexander-Universtiy Erlangen, Germany, of which he also obtained the medical doctorate. His expertise focuses on Experimental Reconstructive and Regenerative Medicine with special emphasis in tissue engineering, biomaterial sciences and wound healing. His research group is world-leading in the establishment of native spider silk as a biomaterials and he developed a model to manufacture simple two-dimensional scaffolds for basic biomaterial research. He performed also the first manufacturing of spider silk as a microsurgical suture and the description of its biomechanical properties. Another emphasis is the biology of Mesenchymal Stem Cells concerning their in vitro isolation, expansion and differentiation potential but also clinical applications. Additionally, Mr. Kuhbier was involved in introducing the Mexican Axolotl as a unique and innovative model for regenerative healing and its possible utilization in human wound healing by isolation of different key mediators in its regenerative biology.

In 1998, he was board accredited for Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head & Neck Surgery. In 2004, he was accredited the sub-specialization “plastic surgery” as well as “special oto-rhino-laryngological surgery”. He received his PhD at Ruperto Carola University in Heidelberg, Germany in 2010. Dr. Federspil’s main clinical interest is ablative head & neck tumor surgery as well as reconstructive plastic surgery including free microvascular tissue transfer with a special focus in the facial area also including implantation for bone-anchored craniofacial prostheses. He has authored 73 scientific articles and 4 book chapters. 38 articles are cited in Medline. He is a member of numerous scientific societies. Dr. Andreas Dacho is a certified double-boarded otorhinolaryngologist and plastic surgeon. He received his medical degree at Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg, Germany. He was secretary of the oncologic workshop of the Tumor Center at the University of Heidelberg and research fellow at the Albert B. Chandler Hospital, Dept. of Medicine, University of Kentucky, Lexington, USA. He completed his ENT training at the Departments of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, University Hospital Heidelberg and the University of Leipzig, Germany. Dr Polyzois received his DDS in 1977 and Dr.Dent in 1983 from Athens University, Athens,Greece and his MScD from Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK in 1986. Robert Sucher received his medical degree in 2004 from Innsbruck Medical University. Since 2002 he is actively involved in research activities at the D. Swarovski Research Laboratory of the Department of Visceral, Transplant and Thoracic Surgery, where he finished his M.D. thesis on intracellular signaling pathway studies during ischemia/reperfusion in solid organ transplantation.Dr. Sucher has published numerous scientific articles in peer reviewed journals, several book chapters, more than 100 abstracts at international conferences and received several national and international research awards including the Excellence in Research Award from the American College of Surgeons, the Distinguished Fellow Award from the American Society of Transplantation, the BIOTEST Award from the European Society of Transplantation and the Young Investigator Award from the Austrian Society of Transplantation. Dr. Zhi-gang Zhang, professor and master supervisor，is a head of Otology department，Sun Yet-Sen memorial hospital，Sun Yet-Sen university. Following his M.D degree in 1987, Dr Zhang was trained in Nan Chang university and obtained master degree in Otolaryngology medicine in 1995. After that, he woked at the second affiliated hospital of Guang-Zhou university as a Attending Physician, Associate Professor in 1995-2003. In 2003, he firstly performed whole ear anaplastology in China, Since then, he became a senior ear microsurgical expert. Now, he is a professor in Sun Yet-Sen memorial hospital, Sun Yet-Sen university and is occupied in otology clinical and clinical research work of otitis media, tympanosclerosis, the conduction deafness postoperative hearing restored, the full integration of righteousness ear bone repair, which have reached international advanced level.

Dr. Banu Karayazgan Saracoglu has received her PhD in Istanbul University, Department of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics. Accepted as an ITI scholar, she has completed a fellowship at the University of Florida, Center for Implant Dentistry. Currently, she is working as Maxillofacial Prosthodontist in Baskent University. She is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals and has authored in several research articles.

Dr.Del Castillo was born in 1971. He has finished his Doctors degree (Medicine and Surgery) in 1995. Graduated Cum Laude, University of Salamanca in 1998.  Completed his residency training from “La Paz” University Hospital in Madrid, Spain Member of the Spanish Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Spanish Society of Transplant. Fellow of the European Board of Oro-Maxillofacial Surgery (Bolonia, 2008). He is currently Associate Professor at the San Pablo CEU University and Co-Director of Master in Advanced Oral Surgery and ImplantologyHis clinical practice comprises all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with special interest in Nead and Neck Oncology, Orthognatic Surgery and Facial Traumatology. Research Grant from the Spanish National Institutes of Health 2010-2013 (Bone regeneration and stem cells). He is also Member of the Editorial Board of some journals. Dr.Laith M Abdulhadi, has obtained his specialization in total and partial oral rehabilitation and Doctorate in Dental Sciences (DDS) from University Paris 7 in 1984.He worked as a teacher and consultant since 1984 to date without interruption in 5 universities to teach, supervise, under and postgraduate students and treat challenging cases of oral and maxillofacial defects. He is a member of many international dental organizations and a reviewer of three international journals.His research interest includes multi- disciplines including, biomedical engineering, clinical and laboratory technique, software integration in dental research, curriculum development, and teaching technology. The most interesting areas are the maxillofacial retention mean, material research, occlusion, TMD, silicone color matching and implant in addition to other prosthetic replacement.He published many articles in referred scientific journals and presented many oral presentations in international meetings and conferences.

Dr. Ahmed Abo-Hashem Azab Moosa MD has received his MB. Bch from Zagazig University during the period of 1989-1995. Currently, he is working as Lecturer in Zagazig University. He is a member of Egyptian Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
