Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is the disease that affects the central nervous system. The persons own immune system is responsible for this disease. In this disease the myelin sheath that surround the nerve cells of the central nervous system get damaged. Due to damage to the myelin sheath there is interruption in the nerve cells communication that directly affects the body of the person as the nerve signals are interrupted. Due to this the nerve cells get damaged which is irreparable. The person suffers from weakness, thinking problem, blurred vision and the person may suffer from some attacks also. As the person nerve cells are damaged so there is no cure for this disease. However treatment for this system only includes treatment of symptoms and making the person live longer. The cause of multiple sclerosis is still unknown. It is thought to occur because of environmental factors, some infectious agents or genetic factors. The diagnosis based on signs and symptoms do not confirm this disease because the symptoms may be similar to the symptoms of other diseases also. Only from the medical history the doctor can confirm the diseases by some diagnostic methods like neuroimaging and cerebrospinal fluid analysis. Review articles are the summary of current state of understanding on a particular research topic. They analyze or discuss research previously published by scientist and academicians rather than reporting novel research results. Review article comes in the form of systematic reviews and literature reviews and are a form of secondary literature. Systematic reviews determine an objective list of criteria, and find all previously published original research papers that meet the criteria. They then compare the results presented in these papers. Literature reviews, by contrast, provide a summary of what the authors believe are the best and most relevant prior publications. The concept of "review article" is separate from the concept of peer-reviewed literature. It is possible for a review to be peer-reviewed, and it is possible for a review to be non-peer-reviewed.
