MTOR is a serinr/threonine protien kinase that regulates cell growth, cell prolifiration, cell motility, cell survival, protein synthesis, and transcription. mTOR is similar to a communications command center. It receives external signals from growth factors, harmones, and proteins. It then gives the 'ON' or "OFF' signals for the cell to grow and divide, seek nutrition, or use its nutrition. Also known asmammalian target of rapamycin and molecular target of repamycin.
