Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the esophagus that is compounded by both genetic predisposition and aberrant responses to environmental antigens, particularly those that are food derived.Researchers have identified a genetic signature for a severe, often painful food allergy eosinophilic esophagitis.The most common cause of esophagitis is acid reflux, which most frequently results in heartburn. Acid reflux also can cause ulcers in the inner lining of the esophagus.
