Research Highlights:

1 Parkinson's Disease can be discovered by skin cell samples
Research team led by Dr Richard Wade-Martins from the Oxford Parkinson's Disease Centre, applying new stem cell technology to use skin samples to grow the brain cells thought to be responsible for the onset of Parkinson's disease. And it is also easy to get skin samples than brain biopsy.
1 Needs of Vitamin D differs for individuals
Research physiologist Charles B. Stephensen and colleagues from Agricultural Research Service (ARS) predict the individual vitamin D requirement. The requirements varies with skin colour, exposure to sunshine and food in takings.
1 Sun exposure increases skin cancer
Sun light contain ultraviolet (UV) radiation A and B of which UVB causes skin burns and UVA also penetrate into the skin leads premature aging of skin and there by skin cancer. 90% of skin cancers are caused by sun damage. It is better prevented by applying sunscreens, sun blocks, sun glasses, hats etc
1 Heart muscle cells generated from skin tissues
Research team led by   Deepak Srivastava, director of the Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease in San Francisco identified that the skin cell  can be used to transplant heart muscle cells in mouse. This approach can be achieved by switching on three critical genes.
1 Increased skin cancer risk by HPV infection
 People with Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) infections are more prone to skin cancers  than the normal individuals.HPV also causes other cancers such as cervix, vulva cancers, However further studies must be required to find this relation.
