About the Journal

Lung cancer is an important and widespread disease that constitutes a major public health problem and rare among young adults. It usually is found in people who are 50 years of age or older, with an average age at diagnosis of 60 and still remains the leading cause of cancer deaths claiming more lives each year than breast, colon and prostate cancer combined. Lung cancer occurs when the cells of lung divide uncontrollably and form tumor. Tumors are classified in stages, which are based on whether the cancer is local (in the lung only), locally advanced (spread to nearby lymph nodes, which are small bean shaped organs that remove waste and fluids and help fight infection) or metastatic (spread to other parts of the body).

Understanding the genetic complexity and the way different group of cells in a tumor adapt and compete with each other is really the next frontier in cancer medicine.

Lung cancer diagnostics and treatment aims to provide individuals and organizations with the most recent information on ways to prevent Lung cancer, epidemiology, views on what causes lung cancer, pathology, clinical assessment, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and other treatment modalities. The journal presents this information in clear, accessible formats.

Lung Cancer diagnosis and treatment is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes original research articles, review articles, and clinical studies related to all aspects of lung cancer

Lung Cancer Prognosis

Lung cancer starts when abnormal growth of cells occurs in the lung. They can destroy the nearby tissues and form tumors. Lung cancer can start anywhere in the lungs and can affect any part of the respiratory system. Lung cancer is the leading cause of the cancer death in the world. Most lung cancer caused by smoking. But sometimes lung cancer develops in people who have never exposed to the tobacco.

Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer that occurs in the thin layers of cells lining the body’s internal organs known as the mesothelioma. It is the common form of the disease and occurs in the lining of the lung. An individual may get mesothelioma if he or she exposed to the asbestos. The earliest diagnosis of mesothelioma may have treatment and curable.

Lung Cancer Facts

Lung cancer is the leading cancer killer in both men and women in the United States. In 1987, it surpassed breast cancer to become the leading cause of cancer deaths in women. Lung cancer causes more deaths than colorectal, breast and prostate cancers combined. 1 in 14 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer

COPD

COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is a progressive disease that makes it hard to breathe. "Progressive" means the disease gets worse over time. It can cause coughing that produces large amounts of mucus wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and other symptoms. Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of COPD. Most people who have COPD smoke or used to smoke.

Lung Diseases

The trachea branches into tubes called bronchi, which in turn branch to become progressively smaller tubes throughout the lungs. Diseases that affect the airways include Asthma The airways are persistently inflamed, and may occasionally spasm, causing wheezing. COPD is the Lung conditions defined by an inability to exhale normally, which causes difficulty breathing.

Lung

It is the essential respiration organ in body. These are pair of spongy air filled organs which are placed either side of the thoracic cavity. The lungs consist of trachea bronchi and bronchioles and alveoli. Lungs are divided into two different lobes. The lungs are covered by a thin layer called pleura. A thin layer of fluid acts as a lubricant allowing the lungs to slip smoothly as they expand and contract with each respiration.

Lung Cancer Treatment

For lung cancer treatment a thoracic surgeon is specially trained to make incision in to the lungs and can remove the entire tumor of the lung and nearby lymph nodes in the chest. Another treatment for lung cancer is Lobectomy in the entire lobe of a lung is removed when the tumor is small

Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is also referred as carcinoma of the lung or pulmonary carcinoma. It is a malignant tumor of the lung which is characterized by involuntary cell growth. If it is not treated the cell growth spreads to other parts of the body. The main cause of lung cancer is exposure to tobacco for a long period. Treatment of lung cancer depends on the type of cancer.

Symptoms of Lung Cancer

The common symptoms of lung cancer are cough chest pain with breathing problem loss of weight and appetite and the color of the sputum has been changed along with this the person becomes weak feel tired and there may be a change in voice. The patient might suffer from bronchitis and pneumonia for a long period.

Lung Cancer Stages

Lung cancer will be grown in four stages early stage of lung cancer is difficulty to detect and can diagnosed at third and fourth stages. In first stage it is located in the lungs and it spreads to lymph nodes in second stage. In third stage it also spreads to chest and it spreads to fluid of the lungs liver and remaining parts of the body at the final stage

Stage 4 Lung Cancer

It is the most advanded stage of the lung cancer and is also denoted as advanced disease. This is spreads to fluid of the lungs liver and remaining parts of the body at the final stage. Once the cancer cells released in to the blood they may spread anywhere in the body like brain bones liver kidney and adrenal glands.

Lung Cancer Symptoms in Women

Symptoms of lung cancer in women can differ from symptoms of lung cancer in men that is shortness of breathing general extreme tiredness There are some common symptoms like cough color change of sputum. The most common types of lung cancer vary between male and female because different type of lung cancer has different symptoms.

Signs of Lung Cancer

Lung cancer may not give any noticeable signs in the primary stages. One third of the people diagnosed after they has reached third stage. The main signs include that the cough won’t quit and there might be a change in the cough after that breathing problems arise which leads to pain in the chest area wheezing and hoarse voice.

Small Cell Lung Cancer

About ten to twenty percent of lung cancers will be small cell lung cancers the name denotes the size of the tumor cells. It is also known as oat cell cancer oat cell carcinoma and undifferentiated carcinoma. It is a neuroendocrine carcinoma that exhibits aggressive behavior uncontrolled growth and easily spreads to other sites.

Types of Lung Cancer

If the cancer started in the lung it is called as primary lung cancer. Lung cancers mainly divided into two groups that are small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. Small cell lung cancer is named as because the cell in the microscope looks small and filled with the nucleus. It is usually caused by smoking.

Lung Cancer Survival Rate

The people who are diagnosed at the early stage of lung cancer live for five years after diagnosis. When looking at survival rates, it’s important to understand that the stage of a cancer does not change over time, even if the cancer progresses. A cancer that spreads or comes back is still referred to by the stage it was given when it was first found

Asbestos

Asbestos is a naturally available mineral that once was lauded its versatility it is resistance to heat tensile strength and insulating properties that is reduction in heat transfer. Dyspnea is defined as difficulty in breathing or shortness of breathing. Dyspnea is abnormal symptom of high exertion and it occurs mainly due to asthma cardiac ischemia interstitial lung disease heart failure and COPD. Dyspnea should be differentiated from tachypnea hyperpnoea.
