Maxillofacial pathology is also called as oral pathology, stomatognathic disease, dental disease, or mouth disease. It is the diseases of the jaws ("maxillae" or "gnath"), mouth ("oral cavity" or "stoma") and related oral parts such as salivary glands, temporomandibular joints, facial muscles and perioral skin. Maxillofacial pathology concerned with diagnosis and study of the causes and effects of diseases affecting the maxillofacial region.
