Abstract:

Teeth-whitening is a common and effective method for restoring discolored vital teeth. It has been practiced since the ancient time. Ancient Romans used urine and goat mild in an attempt to whiten their teeth. According to FDA, whitening restores natural tooth color and bleaching whitens beyond natural color. There are many techniques available; teeth bleaching are most requested in cosmetic dentistry today. Discussion will include strategies of what should be discussed with patients before start of treatment? Causes and aetiology of teeth discoloration, methods of bleaching, how to utilize safe and effective whitening technique, general results, aesthetic effects and side effects of whitening.

Biography :

Randa Shaker completed his Master Degree from The Ohio State University- 1997 and completed Post-Graduation in Hospital Dentistry from McGill University, Montreal General Hospital, Canada - 1999. She obtained Fellowship in Advanced General Dentistry – 2001 (FAGD). She is the Director of Residency and Internship Training Program at Dental Department, King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center- Jeddah. She has published seven (7) papers in reputed journals.
