Abstract :

Onion is breed on 82.000 hectares area in Turkey. Production amount of onion is 1.750.000 ton in 2012. But pests that effects to onion are bring on importante losses on agricultural areas in Turkey. The most important family of these pests is Lepidoptera species. Two species are belong to Acrolepiidae family, two species are belong to Geometridae family and eighteen species are belong to Noctuidae family were identified by researchers in Turkey. In this study, informations are given about Lepidoptera species that are harmful on onion in Turkey, their damage shapes and damage risks.

Biography :

Cihan Cılbırcıoglu has completed his master degree education at the age of 29 years from Ankara University and Ph.D. studies from Ankara University Entomology Main Branch now. He is the academician of Organic Agriculture Programme Kastamonu University. He has published more than 6 papers in reputed journals and serving as an editorial board member of repute.
