Abstract:

The understanding of the physiological and toxicological aspects of metals is having a big increased interest. However, because of the technical limitations evaluation was very difficult and the results very encouraging. So in this lecture the author intends to focus on the metals that can be measured reliably and accurately by clinical laboratory, in a critical analysis of the aspects of collection, transportation, analysis and release of the results, which provide the professional that requests these determinations a set of data to better understanding of clinical cases which the dosage of metal is required. Issues to be approached: Tubes and collection techniques, analysis techniques (emission spectrometry and atomic absorption) and clinicopathological correlation of results.
