Bone Marrow Extraction/Harvesting
Bone marrow Extraction/Harvesting is the removal of bone marrow tissue or fluid from bone marrow for clinical purposes. It is generally performed on the hip bone. If the marrow is collected for an autologous transplant, it is frozen until it is needed. If the transplant is allogeneic, the infusion to the patient can take place the same day or the next day. In either case, the infusion of cells takes about 30 minutes.
