Mesothelioma develops from cells of the mesothelial cells which are protective lining that covers many of the internal organs of the body. The tissues include pleura of lungs peritoneum of abdomen, pericardium of the heart and tunica vaginalis of testes. It is caused by exposure to asbestos. Imaging tests: MRI, PET, CT scan. Biopsy: EMA (epithelial membrane antigen) and WT1 (Wilms' tumour).
