Prenatal Diagnostics
Prenatal diagnosis or prenatal screening (note that prenatal diagnosis and prenatal screening refer to 2differing kinds of tests) is testing for diseases or conditions in a fetusor embryo before it's born. The aim is to detect birth defects such as neural tube defects, Down syndrome, chromosome abnormalities, genetic disorders and alternative conditions, such as spina bifida, cleft surface, Tai Sachs disease, RBC anemia, thalassemia, cystic pathology, Muscular dystrophy, and fragile X syndrome. Screening may be used forprenatal sex discernment. Common testing procedures include amniocentesis,ultrasonography including nuchal translucency ultrasound,humour marker testing, or screening. In some cases, the tests square measure administered to work out if the craniate can be aborted, tho' physicians and patients conjointly notice it helpful to diagnose risky pregnancies early in order that delivery is scheduled in an exceedingly tertiary care hospital wherever the baby will receive acceptable care.
