Yeast is a fungus that normally lives in vagina in large numbers. The infections are most common and the treatment is simple. Most yeast infections are caused by Candida albicans. They affect about 75% women in their lifetime. Symptoms include itching, burning, soreness of vagina and pain during urination. Avoiding antibiotics can prevent the spread of infection.
