Dr Patrick Woo was Postdoctoral Fellow Medical Research Council Canada and Ballard Fellow OVC University of Guelph He continued his research on trypanosomiasis in Africa as FAO Andre Mayer Research Fellow EATRO East African Trypanosomiasis Research Organization Uganda and SRI Serengeti Research Institute Tanzania Dr Woo was IDRC Consultant and Visiting Scientist NITR Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis Research Nigeria before his appointment as Assistant Professor 1974 University of Guelph UoG he was promoted to Associate Professor 1978 and to Professor 1984; appointed to the Collaborative International Development Studies Program 1993; and elected Director 2002 Axelrod Institute of Ichthyology UoG Senate also elected him University Professor Emeritus 2005 and the appointment was conferred at convocation by The Honourable Lincoln M Alexander Chancellor.

Dr Cain received his PhD in Fish Health/Immunology from Washington State University in 1997 and holds a BS degree in Fisheries and an MS degree in Aquaculture fish nutrition from Michigan State University Currently he is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Fish and Wildlife at the University of Idaho UI In addition he holds an administrative appointment as the Associate Director of the UI’s Aquaculture Research Institute He also serves on the editorial board of Aquaculture Research and is an ad hoc reviewer for a number of other journals Dr Cain is an active researcher and has authored or coauthored over 40 refereed journal articles and a number of other scholarly articles including two invited book chapters He is involved with many professional Fish Health and Aquaculture organizations and was recently honored with an award for Innovation from the UI related to the development and commercialization of fish disease diagnostic tools for aquaculture.

Dr Francesco Buonocore has received his PhD in 1993 at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo Italy Department of Agrobiology and Agrochemistry after a three years project with a thesis entitled: “Biochemical and genetic studies on high molecular weight glutenin subunits involved in wheat quality” From February 1995 to February 1996 he was at the Long Ashton Research Station Long Ashton Bristol University of Bristol UK Department of Cell Biology with a one year EC postdoctoral grant programme AIR: “Agriculture and AgroIndustries” contract n AIR1CT946374
From September 1996 to March 2001 he was working as research technician in the University of Tuscia Department of Environmental Sciences From March 2001 until now he is lecturer and full researcher in the Zoology and Marine Biotechnology group of the University of Tuscia Department of Environmental Sciences. He has authored about 60 papers on international journals and 5 book chapters He his member of the International Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology ISDCI of the European Society for Marine Biotecnology ESMB and of the Fisheries Society of the British Isles.

Dr Zimba joined the Center for Coastal Studies from the Agricultural Research Service ARS agency of the United States Department of Agriculture USDA where he served as a Research Microbiologist in Stoneville Mississippi since 1999Dr Zimbas work at the USDA assisted in the analysis of offflavor metabolites being produced by algae in aquaculture systems Prior to that Dr Zimba worked as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Fisheries at the University of Florida He is an adjunct at the University of Mississippi and the State University of New York SUNY and has also served as an Adjunct Faculty member at Loyola University of New Orleans His research interests include aquatic ecosystem ecology algal toxin assessment harmful algae wetlands aquaculture microalgal taxonomy and physiology carbon fixation assessment remote sensing aquatic ecosystem stressors and cyanobacteria secondary metabolitesDr Zimbas educational pursuits began at Virginia’s Wesleyan College There he earned a BA in Biological Sciences in 1979 In 1985 he completed a Masters Degree in Biology from Old Dominion University In 1990 Dr Zimba achieved his PhD from Mississippi State UniversityDuring his academic and professional career Dr Zimba has been responsible for securing more than 59 million in contracts and grants while also ascending to the level of senior scientist in the ARS He has presented at the Gordon Conference on Mycotoxins and Phycotoxins and served on the editorial board of two international journals as well as the Board of Trustees of the Phycological Society of America.

Dr Hiran M Dutta has received her DSc degree from the Lieden University The Netherlands in 1968 obtained her Bachelor and Master in Sc Degrees in 1958 and 1960 respectively Initially her specialty was Functional Morphology and then she moved on to Toxicology and Epidemiology She is a Professor Emeriti in the Department of Biological Sciences Kent State University OH where she taught from 1970 through 2003 She directed an exchange student program between the Kent State University and the Leiden University The Netherlands from 1998 through 2003She authored and edited three books; published over 75 articles in major journals of the world; also an editor of a scientific book series entitled ”Biological Systems in Vertebrates” She was awarded Research Scholar of the Council of Scientific Research Government of India 1966; Fulbright Lecturer/Research Fellowship Bhagalpur University India 1991; Smithsonian Institution Research Scholar Grant 19911993; Visiting Professor Institute of Zoology University of Krakow Poland 1970; Visiting Professor the Polish Academy of Sciences Institute of Ecology Poland 1989; Guest lecturer and Visiting Professor Paradenia University Sri Lanka.

Dr Jorge Fernandes has received his PhD in Comparative Immunology from the University of St Andrews Scotland in 2003 Currently he holds a position as Associate Professor in Molecular Biology at Bodø University College in Norway He is also an invited Professor at the University of Messina Italy He is an editorial member of Acta Histochemica and he acts as a regular reviewer for several reputed journals like BMC Molecular Biology BMC Genomics Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology and Aquaculture Research He has authored 24 peerreviewed research articles in international journal 328 citations hindex 10 and one book chapter He is a member of the American Physiological Society and of the European Aquaculture Society In 2008 he was awarded the “Outstanding Young Investigator” grant within the aquaculture programme from the Research Council of Norway.

Currently, he is working as research microbiologist (UoP) specializing in aquaculture production. He is serving as an editorial member of several journals such as the Journal of Aquaculture Feed Science and Nutrition and International Aquafeed.
