Biography :

Anurag Mishra joined Jayne Haines Center for Pharmacogenomics and Drug Safety at Temple University, School of Pharmacy as Associate Scientist after his postdoctoral work in Medical College of Georgia and University of Texas Medical Branch. His research career encompasses a diverse array of scientific and clinical research projects ranging from structural biology of cytokines to the mechanisms of oxidative stress in lung carcinoma to the phramacogenomics of adverse drug reactions. His ongoing research endeavors involve the use of pharmacogenomics approach in important clinical as well as sports medicine projects in collaboration with clinicians and colleagues from different disciplines. Besides, he is also involved in investigating the role of certain ubiquitous housekeeping enzymes such as GAPDH in cell cycle regulation and carcinogenesis.

Biography :

Dr. Gareth E.Davies grew up in Wales. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Plymouth, UK. He then completed his Ph.D in Human Molecular Genetics from the University of Cardiff in the UK. Dr. Davies has carried out post-doctoral and fellowship appointments at the University of Oxford, the National Cancer Institute of the NIH and the Medical College of Wisconsin. In 2007, Dr. Davies was appointed Scientific Director of the Avera Institute of Human Behavioral Genetics, on Sioux Falls, SD.

Peter R. Martin, M.D., is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University, School of Medicine.  He is also Director of the Division of Addiction Psychiatry, the Addiction Psychiatry Interdisciplinary Research Training Program, and the Vanderbilt Addiction Center. Dr. Martin received his Honours B.Sc. in Molecular Genetics in 1971 and M.D., C.M. in 1975 both from McGill University and M.Sc. (Pharmacology) from the University of Toronto in 1979.

Li-Na Wei received her Ph.D. in Microbiology from Texas Tech University Health Science Center at Lubbock, and post-doctoral training from Medicine/Microbiology at Columbia University at New York. She joined the faculty of Department Pharmacology at University of Minnesota, Medical School in 1993 as an Assistant Professor, rose to the rank of Full Professor in 2002, and was named Distinguished McKnight University Professor of the University of Minnesota in 2009.

Dr. Swapan K. Ray received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta, India. Dr. Ray did his postdoctoral training at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. He held faculty positions at the Emory University and the Medical University of South Carolina before moving to the University of South Carolina. Dr. Lam is Professor of Pharmacology at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, USA. He is also the James O. Burke Endowed Centennial Fellow in Pharmacy and Clinical Associate Professor at University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Lam received his B.Pharm. degree from University of Bradford, England, and Pharm.D. degree from University of Minnesota, USA. Amr Amin is a Professor of Cell & Molecular Biology and a graduate faculty at UAE University. He earned his PhD in Cell & Developmental Biology from University of Illinois at Chicago and received a postdoctoral training in Molecular Genetics at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.  After joining UAEU, Dr. Amin’s focus was redirected to the field of preventive medicine. His lab is interested in natural product-based protection against cancer. Most recently, his lab has been employing non-invasive approaches and nanoparticles to learn more about the molecular aspects of chemoprevention particularly against liver cancer.

Dr. Yuliang Ma is an asssistant research professor of pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC). He received his PhD in pharmaceutical sciences (biological mass spectrometry) from University of Antwerp, Belgium. Before moving to WCMC, Dr. Ma was Director of Proteomics Facility, Burnham Institute for Medical Research, CA (2002-2006) and a postdoctoral fellow at New York University School of Medicine (1999-2002).
