Dr Vural Fidan has recieved his MD and PhD in Hacettepe University. He is deputy director of ENT department. He is an Otorhinolaryngologist at Yunus Emre Goverment Hospital. He worked as a visiting scientist at Yale University ENT and Allegry departments. He has more than 20 SCI indexed articles. Research interests are pulmonary hypertension, allergy, otology, rhinology and sleep medicine.

Dr Shahzeer Karmali is a minimally invasive gastrointestinal/bariatric surgeon based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. He is an Assistant Professor Department of Surgery Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. Completed his surgical residency at the University of Calgary in 2002 and Fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery at Baylor College of Medicine Houston. Appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery University of Alberta in 2008, General surgery representative CAMIS Expert Advisory Panel Executive member Canadian Association of Bariatric Physicians and Surgeons Member CAGS. Biography :

Thomas S. Helling MD is Professor of Surgery and Chief, Division of General Surgery of the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Helling is originally from Kansas City, MO. He completed his residency at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine and also completed a transplant fellowship at University of Colorado in Denver. He has held several surgical positions in Kansas, Pennsylvania and Missouri. At the University of Missouri – Kansas City, Dr. Helling was Associate Director of the Surgical Research Laboratory. Dr. Helling has a long interest in and commitment to surgical education, serving as surgery program director at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, and, currently, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is a member of the Association of Program Directors in Surgery. His research interests were mechanisms of liver failure following subtotal hepatectomy. After leaving the University of Missouri – Kansas City Dr. Helling was the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA where he was also adjunct Professor of Surgery at Temple University. Dr. Helling’s clinical focus is hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. Since his arrival at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Dr. Helling has been active in development of the Gastrointestinal Tumor section of the Cancer Institute, and his clinical focus has been on surgery of hepato-biliary-pancreatic disorders. He has clinical research interests in the role of inflammation in development of cancers of the liver and pancreas. Dr. Helling has had a life-long interest in surgical education and has been appointed as the program director for the surgery residency program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Helling has also a parallel interest and hobby in the history of surgery. He is a member of numerous societies and organization.

Biography :

Dr. Sauer earned her Ph.D from Texas A&M University in Veterinary Microbiology, with an emphasis in canine genetics. She continued at Texas A&M as a postdoc in the Veterinary Integrative Bioscience Program and investigating canine and murine models of mammary cancer. At Baylor College of Medicine, she pursued a second postdoc that focused on microRNAs and murine knockout models. Dr. Sauer joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston as a Research Scientist and Scientific Writer for the Center for Translational Injury Research. She is currently an Assistant Professor for the Department of Surgery at the UT Health Medical School in Houston and the Lead Scientific Writer for the Center for Translational Injury Research. Her research focus in on the role of microRNAs in trauma and hemorrhagic shock. She is a member of AMWA, CSE, and TIPPA.

Biography :

Dr Bianchi obtained his MD (1981) from “Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas da Santa Casa de Sao Paulo”, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I Montreal, Canada. He obtained a Master Degree (1985) in Pathology from Universite de Montreal, and a PhD (1989) in Experimental Medicine from Mc Gill University. He did a Posdoctoral fellowship ( 1989-2001) at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston, MA, USA. He has published over 190 peer-reviewed publications, including 3 patents and 11 review articles/book chapters. He supervises numerous undergraduates, masters, doctoral students, and surgery residents. He is the director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Lab at Rhode Island Hospital and Brown Medical School, in Providence, RI, USA.

Biography :

Roberto Gedaly, M.D. is a practicing transplant surgeon and clinician-scientist who has earned both national and international recognition for his work with infectious complications, including hepatitis, in-patients undergoing liver resection and liver transplantation. His research has focused upon immunosuppressive strategies in liver transplantation. His current research seeks to define markers and prognostic indicators of hepatocellular carcinoma in an attempt to determine more effective therapies.
Doctor Gedaly is an Assistant Professor of Surgery within the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and is Chief of Transplantation at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.   
After receiving a medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela in 1990, Doctor Gedaly completed his general surgery residency at the University Hospital of Caracas. He then completed a two-year fellowship in hepatobiliary and transplantation service at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center through the Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts; a one-year fellowship in liver and GI transplantation at the Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida; and a two-year fellowship in transplantation at the Methodist University Hospital at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine.
Doctor Gedaly joined the University of Kentucky in 2006. In addition to his clinical and administrative responsibilities as the Chief of Transplantation, he serves as a teacher and mentor to numerous medical students, interns, and residents. He is actively engaged in medical and surgical societies, is a frequently invited guest speaker at meetings worldwide, and has authored.numerous publications appearing in leading peer-review journals and text books.

Biography :

Dr.William Cole graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne in 1965.He completed his general surgical training in 1971 and orthopaedic training in 1974. He undertook fellowship training in pediatric orthopaedic surgery and genetics research at McGill University, Montreal from 1974 to 1976. On his return to the Royal Children’s Hospital and University of Melbourne in 1977, Dr. Cole set up a clinical practice in upper and lower limb reconstructive and tumor surgery and a research program in the genetics of skeletal development and disease. In 1992, he became the Director of Pediatric Orthopaedics at the Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto. Dr. Cole continued in the same areas of clinical and research work. In 2009, he moved to his current position of Director of the Division of Pediatric Surgery, Department of Surgery, University of Alberta in Western Canada. Dr. Cole has worked for many years on several musculoskeletal Study Sections, Center for Scientific Review, National Institutes of Health, USA.

Dr. Joshi since 1987 has taught undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students and trained doctoral and post-doctoral fellows in research. He has been mentoring graduates and medical students, who now have successful careers in medicine, academia and the pharmaceutical industry.has taught undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students and trained doctoral and post-doctoral fellows in research. He has been mentoring graduates and medical students, who now have successful careers in medicine, academia and the pharmaceutical industry.Joshi’s research areas are related to bacterial pathogenesis. He has extensive experience in the areas of nosocomial infection, antimicrobial resistance, and molecular and clinical epidemiology. He is also working in the area of host cellular responses to bacterial pathogens and/or their virulence products, notably of Rickettsia, Acinetobacter, MRSA, and botulinum toxins. Joshi has developed several in vitro and in vivo assays, and has expertise in immunocytochemical (ICC) and immunohistochemical (IHC) detection systems and microscopy. Dr. Joshi and Dr. Brooks work together and have developed several research proposals jointly; Surgical Infections Research (SIR) is one the major intiatives.

J. Scott Roth, MD is the Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was born and raised in New Jersey.  He completed his Bachelors of Science degree at the College of William and Mary and later earned his Medical Degree from the Medical College of Virginia.  He subsequently completed his general surgery residency training followed by a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Roth held his initial academic appointment at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University where he was the Associate Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery. He subsequently held the position of Surgery Residency Program Director and Director of Surgical Endoscopy at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Roth returned to the University of Kentucky in 2008 as the Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery. Dr. Roth’s clinical interests include laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, abdominal wall hernias and disorders of the esophagus and stomach. His research interests are in the area of abdominal wall reconstruction, biologic mesh materials and tissue engineering for hernia repair. He is a member of numerous surgical societies including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Hernia Society, the Southeastern Surgical Congress, the Association for Academic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Born in Poland, raised in Venezuela. Dr. Krulig earned his M.D. in 1970 from the School of Medicine at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He completed his post-graduation specialization course in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery in Argentina 1973 – 1975 at the Hospital Naval Buenos Aires under the auspices of the Catholic University “El Salvador de Buenos Aires”. His training course has included all aspects of the specialty: Aesthetic Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Congenital malformations, Reconstructive Surgery in Burned patients and Hand reconstructive surgery. Dr. Eduardo Krulig has been active in his private practice at the Centro Médico de Caracas, Hospital de Clínicas Caracas and in his private clinic “Clínica Krulig”, until 2007 when he has moved to Tenerife, Spain, where he is practicing his specialty at the Centro Médico Dr. Eduardo Krulig. Dr. Krulig has been active in developing new techniques in the field of Laser surgery, pioneering in the field of Cellulite surgical treatment with surgical laser 1440 nm. He has developed treatments in the field of Aesthetic Medicine and Aesthetic Dermatology, after many years of research, such as Amelan (depigmentation treatment in melasma and lentigoes), Peelings by Krulig (Universal peel, Krulig Peel, Star peel by Krulig, ABC Peel). Dr. Krulig has pioneered the Liposuction – Liposculpture techniques in South America. Is a Honor Member in 15 scientific Societies and Academies, is actively engaged in Medical and Surgical Societies; is frequently Invited guest speaker in International Congresses and meetings, Invited Professor in specialization courses. Dr. Krulig has been awarded by many Scientific Societies, has been appointed by the Japan Society of Aesthetic Surgery as the Best Aesthetic Doctor in South America (year 2000). Dr. Krulig has been the President of the International Academy of Aesthetic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine, President of the International Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and Chairman of the International Board of Cosmetic Surgery. Has Chaired three International Congresses, in Aruba, Washington DC., and in Varna, Bulgaria. Has written many scientific publications and is co-author in text books in the specialty of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
