She received the Junior Faculty Awards: Perkins Coie Award and the Marian E. Smith award.
Dr. Reyes has over 15 years of experience in stem cell biology from bone marrow and 8 years of experience with skeletal muscle stem cell biology. Dr. Reyes obtained very good training in physiology and histology of the skeletal muscle during her post-doctoral training with Dr. Jeffrey Chamberlain in 2003-2006 at the University of Washington (UW). Since she became an independent investigator in the summer of 2006 at UW, Dr. Reyes has worked extensively in the biology of satellite cells as well as other cell populations in normal skeletal muscle and muscles from mdx mice, a mouse model of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  Dr. Reyes has published a flow cytometry protocol to study endothelial cells from skeletal muscle (Ieronimakis et al., 2008). She has also extensively studied muscle stem cell populations (Ieronimakis et al., 2010) in a wide age range (from 2-33 month-old) in wt and mdx mice.
Since 2008 Dr. Reyes has also worked extensively in the biology of dental pulp stem cells (DPSC). She has recently published the characterization of neural crest-derived dental pulp stem cells (Janebodin et al., 2011). She is now exploring possible clinical applications of DPSC for craniofacial regeneration.
Dr. Reyes is also a clinical pathologist specialized in clinical coagulation. Dr. Reyes is the director of the Clinical Coagulation lab at the University of Washington Medical Centers (UWMC) and Harborview Medical Center. Dr. Reyes’ clinical responsibilities involve diagnosis of bleeding and clotting (thrombophilia) disorders and monitoring of anticoagulants. Dr. Reyes is developing assays for monitoring of new anticoagulants and blood microparticles (microvessels).
