Frank Mazza, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He subsequently received his training in pulmonary and critical care medicine in the hospital system of Case Western Reserve University. He has practiced pulmonary and critical care medicine in Austin, TX, for 27 years. Currently, he serves as Chief Patient Safety Officer and system-level Associate Chief Medical Officer for the Seton Family of Hospitals. His primary area of expertise has been in the area of Clinical Process Improvement and Patient Safety, and he presently leads or has led multiple teams that have focused their efforts on standardizing care and care processes. He serves as Executive Sponsor of work for which the Seton organization received The Joint Commission′s Codman Award in 2007 as well as inaugural Quality awards given by Childbirth Connections in 2009 and the state of Texas in 2011. He has been a faculty member for the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, The Joint Commission, Premier, and Ascension Health, and he holds an academic appointment as adjunct Associate Professor of Respiratory Care at Texas State University. He is a member of IHI′s Executive Quality Leader Network, described as a "think tank" for new ideas and a test bed for new concepts, designs, and solutions.

Yuanlin Song, MD is currently a Researcher/Professor at Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. Dr. Song graduated from Shanghai Medical University and start working at Zhongshan Hospital since 1996. He received postdoctoral fellow training at University of California, San Francisco since 1998. He was appointed as Assistant Researcher at UCSF in 2003 and promoted to Associate Researcher in 2009 at Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care, UCSF. Dr. Song is a committee member of ATS-RCMB, and a special appointed professor by Shanghai Municipal Education Committee. Dr. Song has more than 60 international publications and holds three patens.

Hans J Lee is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Virginia Commonwealth University.He has completed his Post Graduation from University of Pennsylvania in Dec 2009.He did Fellowship in in the field of Interventional Pulmonary from North Shore University/ Long Island Jewish Manhasset, NY in June 2008 and Pulmonary/ Critical Care Fellowship from New York Hospital of Queens Flushing, NY in July 2005.He completed his graduation from St George’s University School of Medicine Grenada, West Indies in June 2002 and undergraduation from State University of New York at Buffalo, NY in August 1992.
 

Dr. Zeenat Safdar received her MD from State University of New York, Health Science Center at Brooklyn, New York and completed her fellowship from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, St.Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, New York. She has NIH K23 award for her research in renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system in Pulmonary Hypertension.
 

Dr. Ramon Andrade de Mello works in Department of Medical Oncology at Oncology Portuguese Institute of Porto Francisco Gentil and he is Assistant Professor of the Department of Medicine of the University of Porto, Portugal. Dr. de Mello performs both basic and clinical research on angiogenesis, internal medicine and lung cancer regarding his PhD thesis and also has an active office working. He is the author of many articles, chapters and comments on basic and clinical research. He presented more than 40 papers in congresses and conferences in many countries, such as Brazil, Portugal, and Spain. Currently, he lives at Porto, Portugal.
 

Dr. John L. Ho is an American Board of Internal Medicine certified physician in Internal Medicine and in Infectious Diseases subspecialty. He is a graduate of New York University School of Medicine [1976], received Internal Medicine training at Columbia University-The New York Presbyterian Hospital [1976-1979], and is a graduate of the CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service [1979-1981]. He has served with the International Rescue Committee as Medical Director of the Khao-I-Dang Cambodian Refugee Center under the auspices of UNHCR [1981-1982] furthering not only clinical and public health expertise but gaining administrative and diplomatic experience with international agencies, and Thai and UN officials. Dr. Ho was an Associate Professor in Medicine and in Immunology and Microbiology at the Sanford Weill Medical College of Cornell University-The New York Presbyterian Hospital for over 22 years [1987 to 2009] where he led a team of domestic and international investigators in studies of tropical diseases, including tuberculosis [TB] and HIV with overseas patient-cohorts. He has had extensive working experience in Brazil and Haiti in the areas of TB and HIV. Dr. Ho’s has 100-peer reviewed publications in tropical infectious diseases with a focus in HIV and TB. Over the prior 2 years, Dr. Ho practiced hospital-based acute clinical medicine in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease at Southern Maine Medical Center and St. Helena Hospital, CA. Dr. Ho brings to the CDC-Haiti position an unique combination of experiences including clinical medicine, infectious diseases in particular HIV and TB, laboratory practice in TB and molecular epidemiology of TB.
 

Dr. Zissis C Chroneos is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Center for Host Defense, Inflammation, and Lung Injury at The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. Over the last 20 years, Dr. Chroneos research has defined receptor-mediated mechanisms through which surfactant components modulate inflammatory, immune, and metabolic functions of alveolar macrophages and type II epithelial cells.

Dr. Liu Yuru received his Ph.D. in 2000 in Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and did postdoc training in Duke University and University of Chicago.He joined Department of Pharmacology, University of Illinois at Chicago as research assistant professor in 2007.His research focus on lung development and lung alveolar repair.

Dr. Kirakli received his medical degree from Ege University, School of Medicine in 1995. He subsequently received his training in pulmonary medicine in Dr. Suat Seren Chest Diseases and Surgery Training Hospital, Izmir, Turkey. He has practiced pulmonary and critical care in the same hospital for 14 years. Currently, he is serving as the director of the ICU. His main areas of expertise are noninvasive ventilation, mechanical ventilation and weaning of COPD patients, ARDS, management of severe sepsis and septic shock and hemodynamic monitoring in ICU. He is also the chair of ICU assembly of Turkish Society of Respiratory Investigations and a member of Long Range Planning Committee of the ICU assembly of European Respiratory Society.

Maryam Zolnoori has got Ms in Information Technology Management from Tarbiat Modares University. She worked for several years as a researcher at the area of health/medical informatics in the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR) and Immunology, Asthma, and Allergy Research Institute . The subjects of her projects were on Asthma disease. The results of my works were developing some intelligent systems for diagnosing, evaluating the level of severity and asthma control and asthma exacerbation, and fatal asthma. At present, She is working as a project manager for developing a web-based intelligent system for diagnosing asthma.Her main areas of research consist of Intelligence System in Medicine.She has published some papers in the area of fuzzy expertsystems at conferences and in journals. Her other experience includes some projects in the _elds of CMS,CRM and Tourism Management Systems. She is now Project Manager in the design of a web-base system for diagnosing asthma in the Asthma and Allergy Research Center in Tehran, Iran.
 

Ariel Modrykamien,M.D.is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine,and faculty in the Pulmonary,Sleep,and Critical Care Medicine Division at Creighton University Medical Center.

Dr.Modrykamien completed his pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic,Ohio and an internal medicine residency at St.Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital Center at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

He finished a research fellowship in the hypertension and atherosclerosis department at Boston University Medical Center and prior to this,he completed an internal medicine residency at J.A.Fernandez hospital in Buenos Aires,Argentina.Dr.Modrykamien received a medical doctor degree from Favaloro University School of Medicine in Buenos Aires,Argentina.

His clinical and research interests include mechanical ventilation,sepsis,hemodynamic monitoring,and post-ICU outcomes.
 

Kuzovlev Artem, M.D., Ph.D., was born on Jan 31st 1984 in Moscow, Russia where he grew up and currently living and working. His mother, Maltseva Natalia, is an interpreter (English, French); father, Kuzovlev Nikolay, is an engineer.
In 2007 he was graduated from the I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical academy and studied in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine residence of the V.A. Negovsky scientific research institute of general reanimatology of the Russian academy of medical sciences (2007-2009). During his studies he participated in several probations abroad. At the V.A. Negovsky scientific research institute of general reanimatology he defended a Ph.D. thesis “Diagnosis of acute respiratory distress syndrome in nosocomial pneumonia” (2010). His list of publications includes 47 references.
Currently he is chief research worker and anesthesiologist-reanimatologist at the Institute.

Dr. Alan Fujii is Medical Director of the NICU at Boston Medical Center. He is an associate professor of Pediatrics at Boston University.He is a graduate of UCDavis, UCLA Medical School.  He trained in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital, completing fellowships in pediatric cardiology and neonatal-perinatal medicine through the Joint Program in Neonatology (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Children’s Hospital).
 

Dr. Maron is a vascular biologist and staff cardiologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Boston Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, where he specializes in the clinical management of patients afflicted by pulmonary vascular disease. His research focuses include the redox regulation of functional protein cysteinyl thiols involved in the regulation of nitric oxide signaling in pulmonary vascular tissue, and the mechanisms by which neurohumoral factors modulate pulmonary arterial hypertension pathobiology.

Dr. Blumental-Perry is an Assistant Professor at Mercer University. She received her PhD from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem under the supervision of Dr. G. Simchen (Hebrew University) and Dr. A Mitchell (Columbia University, New York). She joined the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as a postdoctoral trainee in 2002, to work in the laboratory of Dr. Meir Aridor on the role of lipid re-modeling in regulating vesicle formation and export of proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). She continued at the University of Pittsburgh as a junior faculty member under the mentorship of Steven Shapiro, M.D., who is credited with pioneering mouse models to understand the effects of cigarette smoke exposure and cigarette-related diseases. In May 2009, Blumental-Perry joined the Department of Surgery at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. In 2010, she came to the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. Her current work is focused on Cigarette smoke induced Endoplasmic Reticulum stress response in the pathogenesis of COPD.
