Steroid is a terpenoid lipid drug, used to improve the performance of a person and gives him more physical strength. They may cause side effects for human body on over doses which may lead to hormonal imbalance. The practice of steroid abuse is seen commonly in sports which is treated as illegal.
Journal of Steroids & Hormonal Science is a peer reviewed journal that includes a wide range of fields in its discipline and creates a platform for the authors to make their contribution towards the journal.
Journal of Steroids & Hormonal Science is an Open Access, peer reviewed, academic journal that aims to publish most complete and reliable source of information on the discoveries and current developments in the mode of original articles, review articles, case reports, short communications, etc. in all areas of the field and making them available online to the researchers worldwide without any restrictions or subscriptions.
Journal of Steroids & Hormonal Sciences is a peer reviewed journal, serving the International Scientific Community. This Steroids journal offers an open access platform to the authors to publish their research outcome.
The journal is using Editorial Manger System for quality in the review process. Editorial Manager is an online manuscript submission, review and tracking systems. Review process is performed by the editorial board members of ´╗┐Journal of Steroids & Hormonal Science´╗┐ or outside experts; at least two independent reviewers approval followed by editor approval is required for the acceptance of any citable manuscript. Authors may submit manuscript and track its progress through the system, hopefully to publication. Reviewers can download manuscripts and submit their opinions to the editor. Editors can manage the whole submission/review/revise/publish process.

Aims and Scope

Hormonal Therapy

Hormone therapy is the use of hormones in medical treatment. Treatment with hormone antagonists may also referred to as hormonal therapy or antihormone therapy. The most general classes of hormone therapy are oncologic hormone therapy and hormone replacement therapy, of which there are various kinds (e.g., for menopause, for male menopause, or for gender change)

Related Journals of Hormone Therapy

Hormonal Disorders

A hormonal imbalance that occurs as an allergic reaction in the estrogen and progesterone levels called as hormonal disorders. E.g: Acromegaly, Addison's Disease, Adrenal Cancer, Adrenal Disorders, Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. It plays a vital role in diabetes, thyroid disease, growth disorders, sexual dysfunction, and a host of other hormone-related disorders.

Sex Hormone

The steroid hormones that are also called as gonadal hormones. The two main classes of sex hormones are androgens and estrogens. The most important human derivatives are testosterone and estradiol. Other contexts will include progestogens as a third class of sex steroids, different from androgens and estrogens. Progesterone is the important and only naturally-occurring sex hormone. Androgens are considered as "male sex hormones" with masculinizing effects, while estrogens and progestogens are considered as "female sex hormones" albeit at different levels.

Steroid Transformation

The transformations that occur after steroids intake called as Steroid Transformations. These are the oral steroids that are taken by body builders and fitness trainers. The main side effect of oral steroids is osteoporosis, weight gain and getting infections.

Oral Steroids

Steroids which are given orally called as Oral Steroids. Their mode of action is non-narcotic and anti-inflammatory and treated for back pain. These are prescribed medicines to treat Cancers. These are used as short course. The risk is more when taken higher doses. The main side effect of oral steroids is osteoporosis, weight gain and getting infections.

Steroids and Alcohol

Steroids can be made of both plant and animal extracts. Alcohol has a negative impact on the diet. Alcohol and Steroids are hepatoxic in nature. They cause severe allergic reactions. Steroids and Alcohol cause indigestion and stomach problems.

Illegal Steroids

Steroids that are taken illegally for muscular growth and atheletic performance without doctor’s prescription. Anabolic steroids are taken intramuscular, tablets, creams or gels applied on skin. Side effects of anabolic steroids are hypertension and heart attacks. Physical effects are reduced sperm count, infertility, shrunken testicles, severe acne etc. Example: Boldenone, Testosterone, Dromostanolone, Dihydrotestosterone, Methenolone, Norethandrolone, Oxymetholone, Clostebol.

Nasal Steroids

Steroids that are taken through nose in the form of sprays called as Nasal Steroids. These are classified based on the way of treatment. These are effective in controlling the allergic inflammation in the nose. These are used to treat first line nasal symptoms of hay fewer or allergic rhinitis. Example: Nasal corticosteroids. Example: Androstenedione and Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone.

Steroid Myopathy

It is a fatal disease that cause muscle weakness. Glucocorticoid-induced myopathy is the most common type of drug-induced myopathy. It is mostly seen in proximal muscles of the neck upper and lower limbs. Example: Corticosteroids.

Female Steroids

Steroids that are secreted by female organs called as Female Steroids. These are also called as ovarian hormones. Oxandrolone is also called as “The Girl Steroid”. The main steroidal hormones are Oxandrolone, Primabolan, Stanozolol.

Advances in Steroids Treatment

They are naturally occurring substances that help in controlling many functions. They can be made artificially which are also called as Drugs. They can be used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis, hives, Asthma, Ocular Inflammation, Lung Cancer, leukemia and Hepatic failure.

Steroids in Pregnancy

They are mostly used in pregnancy. It do not harm the child and the mother. It is usually given to bear the stress of the labour pains. It is used to prevent osteoporosis. They are transferred in small amounts to the baby in breast milk.

Synthetic Steroids

Steroids that can be prepared are called as Synthetic Steroids. There are a variety of synthetic steroids in the body (Glucocorticoids, Mineralocorticoid, Oestrogens, etc). They have particular functions to perform. Danazol is a synthetic steroid with diverse biologic effects. It also has immune regulatory effects.

Advances in Steroids Detection

Steroids that can be detected during analysis or doping test. The advance techniques used to detect steroids are mass spectrometry, bioassays, metabolite synthesis. The main specimen used for the detection is urine. These have ergogenic effects and are used to increase muscular strength, size and cosmetic look.

Liquid Steroids

Steroids that can be administered in the form of pills or liquid called as Oral Steroids. They are powerful drugs used to reduce swelling and inflammation of lungs. They are used during severe asthma. Oral corticosteroids have serious side effects if used for long time. Egs: Prednisolone, Prednisone.

Gyno Steroids

Steroids that change the physic from male to female. That condition is called as Gynecomastia. This takes place due to hormonal imbalance (estrogen). Progestrone will also play major role. Surgery is only remedy for Gynecomastia. E.g. Equipoise, Dianabol, Dihydrotestosterone.

Catabolic Steroids

They are also called as corticosteroids and has variety of medicinal uses. They are quite complicated when compared to anabolic steroids. Corticosteroids effects in breakdown of muscular strength. Cortisone and prednisone are the most common catabolic steroids. Cortisone is used to cure skin allergies. Prednisone is used to cure rheumatoid arthritis.

Steroids Addiction

A condition in which a person who cannot live without taking steroids is called as Steroid Addiction. The symptoms of this condition are physical problems, change in mood, steal to obtain the drug and Physical Deterioration. E.g: Corticosteroids, Female sex hormones, Steroids.

Steroids Supplements

Steroids that we get in diet are called as Steroid Supplements. Vitamins and amino acids are the main steroid supplements that we get apart from the normal diet. All anabolic steroids come under steroid Supplements. E.g: Nandrolone, Oxandrolone, Oxymetholone, Stanozolol etc.

Cortico Steroids

Corticosteroids are a class of chemical substances that include steroid hormones that are produced in the adrenal cortex of vertebrates as well as the synthetic analogues of these hormones. Corticosteroids are involved in a wide range of physiological processes, including stress response, immune response, regulation of inflammation, carbohydrate metabolism, protein catabolism, blood electrolyte levels, and behavior. E.g: Corticosterone, Cortisone, Aldosterone.

Epidural Steroids

These are the Corticosteroids given through injections into the epidural space to reliev pain. Epidural steroid injections are given to patients with chronic pain due to lumbar disc herniation, degenerative disc disease and lumbar spinal stenosis. The analgesic effect is temporary, but can be an effective nonsurgical treatment. E.g: Betamethasone, Methylprednisolone, Triamcinolone.

Veterinary Steroids

These are the steroids used for growth in food producing animals like beef, cattle and sheep. The main veterinary steroids are Winstrol V, Equipoise, Tren, Finaplix. Finaplex horse steroid is one of the most powerful anabolic steroid hormones on the planet.

Neuroactive steroids

Neuroactive steroids are also called as neurosteroids. They are endogenous steroids that rapidly alter neuronal excitability through interaction with ligand-gated ion channels and other cell surface receptors. Neuroactive steroid refers to steroids that are synthesized by an endocrine gland that reach the brain through the bloodstream and have effects on brain function. Neurosteroids have a wide range of potential clinical applications from sedation to treatment of epilepsy and traumatic brain injury. Ganaxolone is a synthetic analog of the endogenous neurosteroid. Allopregnanolone is under investigation for the treatment of epilepsy.

Hormone Epinephrine

Epinephrine is an adrenal hormone and a neurotransmitter found in vertibrates and protozoans. They are also produced at the ends of sympathetic neurons as chemical mediators for conveying the nerve impulses to effector organs. Epinephrine come under a group of monoamines called the catecholamines. It is produced in neurons of the central nervous system and in the chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla from the amino acids phenylalanine and tyrosine.

Anabolic Steroids

These are also called as Anabolic androgenic steroids. These drugs have a structural similarities. Anabolic steroids also have androgenic and virilizing properties. These were indentified in 1930’s and are widely used in therapeutic medicine to stimulate muscle growth and appetite.

*Unofficial 2014 Impact Factor was established by dividing the number of articles published in 2012 and 2013 with the number of times they are cited in 2014 based on Google search and the Scholar Citation Index database. If ‘X’ is the total number of articles published in 2012 and 2013, and ‘Y’ is the number of times these articles were cited in indexed journals during 2014 than, impact factor = Y/X.
