Case Western Reserve University

Case Western Reserve University is the one of the nation’s top university. The university was begun in 1826 when Western Reserve College was founded in Hudson, Ohio. The city of Cleveland, Ohio, was on the rise in 20th century. In 1882 the college moved to "uptown" Cleveland with funding from American industrialist Amasa Stone and assumed the name Western Reserve University.

Case Western Reserve University is a private institution that has a total undergraduate enrollment of 4,661, its setting is urban, and the campus size is 500 acres, park-like home of more than 40 cultural, medical, educational, religious, and social service institutions. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. The Case Western Spartans varsity teams compete in the Division III University Athletic Association. The Greek system, which stresses a commitment to on-campus and community service, involves about one third of students.

A reflection of the university's commitment to serving the needs of the community, Case Western Reserve has been recognized as one of the "best neighbor" universities by a national survey, with students, faculty and staff investing over 425,000 volunteer hours through 500 community outreach programs, including 16 international programs that impact 29 countries annually.
