The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is a measurement standards laboratory, also known as a National Metrological Institute (NMI), which is a non-regulatory agency of the United States Department of Commerce.
The NCNR is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Its activities focus on providing neutron measurement capabilities to the U.S. research community.
It is a national center for research using thermal and cold neutrons, offering its instrumentation for use by all qualified applicants. Many of its instruments rely on intense beams of cold neutrons emanating from an advanced liquid hydrogen moderator.
Our target is to operate the NCNR safely as a cost-effective national resource, to conduct a broad program of research using neutron techniques, and to develop and apply new neutron measurement techniques :NCNR Instruments, to operate the NIST Center for Neutron Research as a national resource for researchers from industry, university and other government agencies: NCNR Scientific Programs
In a short span, the National Institute of Science & Technology has succeeded in making an indelible mark on the engineering education community of Orissa. NIST is fast becoming the most preferred institute of top JEE(Main) and OJEE rank holders.
Students of more than 13 states are studying in the Institute. This has been made possible by the relentless efforts put in by the faculty and staff of NIST in upholding the highest professional standards in education. We have to work together to ensure that NIST remains an exemplary island in the sea of academic mediocrity that threatens to obliterate India's rich educational past.
