National Tsing Hua Universitys history existed in Beijing established previously in 1911 as the Tsing Hua Academy, Later it moved to beautiful Hsinchu, Taiwan and got reestablished in 1956. Since then, it has been successfully offering a full range of degree programs in science and technology to engineering, humanities, social sciences, and management. NTHU consistently ranks as one of the premier universities in East Asia, widely recognized as the best incubator for future leaders of our society. Our outstanding alumni highlight the success of NTHU students, like Nobel Physics laureates, Dr. Cheng-Ning Yang and Dr. Tsung-Dao Lee, Nobel Chemistry laureate Dr. Yuan-Tseh Lee, and Wolf Prize winner in mathematics Dr. Shiing-Shen Chern. NTHU has 7 colleges, 17 departments and 18 independent graduate institutes: the College of Science, Engineering, Nuclear Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Science, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the College of Technology Management. The Commission for General Education supervises the universitys general education curricula. NTHU employs over 644 full-time faculty members. More than 11,942 students, around 6,233 undergraduates, 3,916 master candidates and 1,793 for doctoral candidates as of data of the first semester 2014. The student-faculty ratio is 18:1 and male to female students is 2.1:1. In addition to upholding basic standards, undergraduate curricula are designed to maximize flexibility as well as integration.
