The foundation relies on the bodies of the university, including directories of research and training, to select projects to highlight to our patrons. The construction of a sponsorship project is done through an ongoing dialogue with companies with which negotiations can take months or even years! In any case, this is philanthropy and the company therefore has very few counterparts except in terms of image. Academic freedom of the teacher-researcher is preserved.
The foundation has initiated contact with Atos and Renault. Negotiations began in 2011 and we tried with our partners to imagine what might look like the project under the patronage. The gift of 300,000 per year for five years has allowed the recruitment of Chair in January 2013, Giovanni Pau, and will operate from the pulpit. Governance Chair is provided by a steering committee comprising representatives of UPMC, the foundation and of course the patrons.
